The overland track is a fantastic walk and the guided, private hut approach makes it comfortable for most walkers. Our guides were also great and really went out of their way to make it a special experience for everyone. However there were two or three issues which could have been done a lot better, which would have improved the experience. First is the food; while there is plenty on offer it has a high carbohydrate, high sugar focus. There is an absence of protein and fresh food. While this may be fine if you are in your 20's, if you are older and use to a low carb diet it comes as a shock, a number of walkers complained about being bloated especially after dinner. Another issue was the rush in the morning of the first day, which is the longest and most difficult walking day.Trying to sort out packs and gear on the first morning doesn't work well, ultimately you rush out because you are so keen to get to the track. The company should do the packs and gear check the night before when you have plenty of time (some women with smaller frames found the standard pack size too big but didn't have time to do anything about it), that would give you an extra hour or so on the first walking day which would make a big difference.
Apart from these issues it is a great walk and don't be put off.

Fantastic walk. Couldn’t fault the guides, food, cabins and of course scenery. Wonderful challenge and if there weren’t so many other places on earth to visit I would do it again. The guides are very knowledgeable, patient and keep you safe at all times.

Challenging with extremes of weather and walking surfaces but memorable due to our guides’ assistance and support. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the excellent meals prepared by our guides and appreciated the drying room and hot shower we accessed every afternoon after a long day plus the comfortable bed at night. We would highly recommend the taswalking co as we feel we had a life-changing experience not only being immersed in beautiful Tasmanian wilderness but meeting like-minded travellers and passionate guides(well done Alex and Pat).

Climbing to Marion's Lookout in gale force winds on the first day was terrifyingly exciting. The trip was unforgettable. The guides, accommodation, food, scenery, and fellow trekkers were fantastic. Hot showers at the end of the first day were to die for. The perfect combination of a challenging walking track with luxury eco-cabins.

The guides were fantastic & very patient, they did so much to make our stay very enjoyable. The huts were great, hot showers, drying room & very comfortable communal areas. The guides provided great food, & arriving each day to tea, coffee & nibbles was lovely. The walk itself was beautiful going through lots of different landscapes. Not a “walk in the park” for me but certainly a great sense of achievement & comfort at the end of each day.
