Ten Minutes by Tractor sets out to impress, with wine tasting on entry to help select that perfect pairing to go with a loooonnggg and luxurious lunch. With wide windows left to right revealing luscious green vines, and soft comfortable decor you are fairly satisfied before you have eaten a thing. Some of us opted for degustation (8 courses, but you can choose 5) and others for the three course a la carte option. Either is delectable with some surprising standouts (mackerel was outstanding) and deliberately unique touches (a gin trolley and a coffee machine that squeezes your espresso to be gentle on the bean). The vegetarian entrees are very special with the carrot, freekah and goats cheese outstanding and the chefs special prawn dish one to write home about. If you are looking for a lovely red, the Estate Pinot Noir is a standout. Clear your calendar and make it a day out, it's worth it.

Booked dinner here for the whole family and we all chose the 5 course tasting menu. We didn't know what we were going to eat because it's meant to be a surprise and we were meant to trust the chef. I did indeed ask and chose to change the kangaroo dish with beef. The house was not very flexible with changes and if we had to change a dish, it had to be for everybody. The amuse bouche were interesting and was quite fond of the beetroot crisp with cauliflower. The first course was cheese, the second one was a fish, the third was quail. I'm usually not a fan of quail but this was was perfectly cooked with just the right tenderness. The course with beef didn't go down that well. Although from its appearance, the meat seemed perfectly cooked: the center was pink without being bloody and the outside was nicely pan fried, it was a bit hard to chew; there were a lot of left overs for that dish. The dessert was a chocolate cake. We were too full for the petit fours and tea. Overall, the food was fine for the place fine dinning standard but nothing extraordinary. My husband was very pleased with the sommelier wine recommendations and ended up having five glasses. The service was good without being invasive but one of the waiter seemed grumpy all night and you could feel that he wasn't enjoying being there; he wasn't rude but we'd rather not had to deal with him. Overall, it was just ok. Be prepared to spend around 3 hours for dinner. Dinner for 4 + wine was close to $700.

Wanted to visit for a while and got the chance with my birthday, everything that I thought it would be was reality the staff were so switched on with our needs and made the dining experience pleasurable

We dropped into TMBT recently for a mid week lunch whilst on the peninsular. We did not have a booking but were greeted warmly and a table was quickly reconfigured whilst we tasted some wines. Would reinforce the need for booking at this popular dining destination given it was almost full on a Thursday.

Service throughout the meal was polished, the wine list extensive and the menu choice varied. There is a degustation menu which we would certainly think about with matched wines.

For wine we went with the 10x label - very good quality in both the Pinot Gris and estate Pinot Noir. Our meals were however inconsistent. The starter and amuse bouche were outstanding. The bread was warm and delicious with a choice of oil and caramel butter - the latter which we had not tried before.

For entree, my wife and I both had rabbit loin and rabbit leg tortellini both were only slightly warm, the loin was over cooked and my wife found two very small bones in the tortellini - we are still puzzled by the bones being in rabbit ( they were like fish bones ) and the lack of response from staff when advised.

For our mains I had the roasted Hapuka which was superbly cooked and my wife had duck. One piece of the duck was nicely cooked, the other undercooked and very tough. The duck skin was rubbery and not eatable on either piece. We did have a lovely salad of goats cheese, beetroot, green beans and rocket to share with our meals.

All our meals were beautifully presented and a delight to look at.

The price for two meals of around $75 per person is reasonable for the venue and experience as it is relaxed fine dining - just need to be careful on the basics underpinning the kitchen.

We opted for the five course degustation and found wonderfully blended flavours and paired wines, along with professional and attentive waiting staff. Favourite dish was the goats cheese while the most surprising was the melt in mouth, cooked to perfection kangaroo with parsnip flavours. The five courses were extended with various small additions from the kitchen, which meant we finished feeling quite full. The menu changes seasonally, so we will definitely be going back, but must remember to book ahead weeks in advance as the restaurant is not large, but very popular.
