I have been visiting The Eating House, for over twenty years. This place has never let us down, joined onto the Derbyshire Craft Center, it is a gem within its own right. It co-exists with the craft center; which is joined on, via a small corridor esque, passage.

I today chose the Quiche with Feta and Spinach and olives, yes an unusual combination, but one that worked, it came on a plate, beautifully presented, with a lovely salad and and jacket potato. All in all fantastic, my father had the jeweled quinoa salad, with goats cheese and butternut squash, which he loved. We also had a cup of tea as well (refills included), and for pudding the most delightful orange cake, again beautifully presented.

What makes this place, The Eating House in Calver, so good, is the friendly staff, fantastic and unique menu, which is always changing and the quality of the food, which is homemade and very tasty. Please, Eating House, open up in Langley Mill, or within the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border.

All in all a true gem, of a place for lunch, and yes a slice of magic, the cakes are fantastic and the food is as well. It is also popular with walkers, and with the craft center next door, you could loose yourself for hours on end. Another superb lunch that we had at the Eating House, and yes we shall be back.

This restaurant is a gem. We have been coming for quite a while, about once or twice a year. The food is innovative and appetising. Today we had a ploughmans lunch, wow! It was wonderful. The warm breads, the chutney and crab apple jelly were lovely, but the showstopper was the charcoal cheddar. Don't be put off with the very black cheese....the taste is amazing.
Good service, attractive food and the cakes.... Glad we don't live too near!!!!!!

If you are in the area and looking for a good place to eat, it would be hard to find a better place than this. Although fairly small in size it offers a large menu in terms of savouries. For those seeking a vegetarian option there is also choice too, including vegan options. A wide selection of cakes are on display (behind glass) all of which look very tempting and fresh. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food we chose was carefully presented, looked very tempting and did not disappoint us. I would recommend the Bakewell tart as a sweet option (which I understand is made in nearby Bakewell). Almondy, moist and delicious!

Small cafe with indoor/outdoor seating areas. Dogs are well catered for outside with free biscuits and water. Excellent selection of cakes and home cooked food. staff very courteous and helpful. Free top up on filter coffee which, although the price was reasonable, made it excellent value. Would recommend the fruit cake.
Adjacent gift shop a real treasure trove. Once again very helpful staff. So pleased with our visit.

Friendly staff and good welcome.
Really good cakes and pastries as well as very attractive and appealing menu.
Seating both indoors and outdoors with newspapers available for those who like to read.
Being very critical personal observation would be that indoor tables are a little too close together, and prices a touch higher than other local restaurants.
