I took my mother-in-law to visit Brazil for the first time in March. The day before our last day in Pernambuco, we went to watch The Passion of Christ play. We bought our tickets through a tourism agency in Recife that included the bus with guide, very good snacks, and a stop in Caruaru for lunch. We arrived early enough in Brejo da Madre City, where Nova Jerusalem is located, to walk through the buildings built only for the play "Passion of the Christ". It is incredible! The best was the play. They even have an English assistance radio for real time translation Portuguese-English that helped my mother-in-law to understand the play. We also saw that they have assistance for disable people to follow the play in wheelchairs. Fantastic experience to watch and walk near to the actors during the play. I really recommend watch this play there, which is only played during Easter.
Bought the trip on the hotel and it used a day due it's visiting other places like "Caruaru free market" etc till the evening when the theater goes on. Recommend to bring a jacket and panties on a bag due in the evening the warm temperature drops to a bit chilly. Back very late in the night. Was tiring.
