“Basic but Ideal”
Reviewed 15 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

This is a converted cowshed which is absolutely ideal as a base for us as a couple with our dogs. There are large fields behind, some of which the dogs were allowed to run in. There is everything you need in terms of kitchen, dining, lounge and sleeping in one open plan building.
Fantastic value for money!

“Peaceful retreat”

Felt an urgent need to get away from the ugliness that is my life here in Peckham south east London (and beyond) and so searched out the cheaper end of holiday lets that would bring some temporary peace in my life. As such any lettings that were in the owners grounds or were detached and away from main roads were what I sought. The garden chalet looked ideal. The problem was I couldn't get away for 7 days so emailed the owner (Chris) if he would be willing to allow me to stay for 3 nights. He would and the quoted price had me book immediately.
The open off-peak return train fare was also very reasonable so I was really looking forward to my stay in East Meon. My cycle ride from Petersfield station was enjoyable. The sun was out, the scenery beautiful. East meon - roughly 5 miles from Petersfield is a tiny and charming village. Quaint houses with thatched roofs, small quiet roads, a few pubs and one shop! The garden chalet is about 30 metres up a path from the narrow village road and is within the grounds of the owner(s) who are a lovely family with a few small dogs (Scotties?), some Alpacas and possibly own the sheep in the field next to the chalet too.
The chalet as a few reviewers have mentioned could be seen as basic but it has ALL the essentials: Fridge, cooker, microwave oven, kettle, hot water which was permanently on (excellent!), largish tv, dvd player and a few films to watch, shower and towels, nice double bed, sofas and chairs and dining table, iron and ironing board.....
I was very happy. The view out of the main window was bucolic. There were sheep and lambs to the right and in the field beyond, the Alpacas. If you want a tranquil retreat then this could be for you. I would be very happy to stay again and reading the guest book many do re-book a stay. Just hope I could stay longer next time should I be lucky enough to be able to consider another stay.

“Suited our needs perfectly”
Reviewed 31 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Firstly the owner Chris is a very obliging gracious man. We had problems selling our house and needed somewhere to stay with our two little dogs whilst we waited to leave for Australia. Chris couldn't have been more understanding. The accommodation is pretty basic, but perfect for our needs. It has free wifi and a good TV, but most importantly for us, it had a couple of large paddocks where we could exercise our dogs. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have found this place. If you want a basic holiday in a lovely part of Hampshire, this is the place to stay.

Stayed on numerous occasions over the last decade. Good basic accommodation in the beautiful Meon Valley with ample private fields fordog exercising. Excellent value for money and attentive but unobtrusive hosts. Not the Ritz but if you want a great break in beautiful countryside this is for you.
