2 couples and 3 year old twins had a great week in this lovely house. Set centrally in the very quiet village of Cesseras with free on road parking on the next street. The house is larger than the pictures show and has everything you would need. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a utility room with separate washer and dryer and a dishwasher. The lounge has 2 large sofas and the tv is WiFi connected so we could keep the kids entertained after dinner. The pool in the front yard is great for cooling off. It’s not for doing laps but was great for us to teach the kids to swim and plenty big enough for the giant unicorn inflatable! The beautiful rear courtyard is where we ate most evenings where there is a BBQ too. The bedrooms were a good size and the beds were comfortable. One room is ensuite and the other two rooms have the bathroom between them. Fans were provided and there are shutters to help keep the heat out. The only niggle is the banister at the top of the stairs is very open - but that is because we had two young children with us - we put a stair gate up and it was fine.
Cesseras is in a convenient position to get about. We drove into Olanzac (10 mins away) each day for bread as the shop is undergoing a refurbishment in Cesseras. We could have organised for a delivery to the village but it meant getting up at 7.30 so decided the trip into Olanzac was better for us. Olonzac also has some cafés and restaurants.
You are also spoilt for choice in the area for wineries. Worth getting the local wine trail map and pootling around. The scenery is stunning - The Canal du Midi is easily accessed at every turn. We also visited Carcassonne which is well worth a visit.
We would definitely recommend this house to anyone who wants a quiet relaxing week away in rural France but who would also like to get out and about sightseeing.
Maison du Cour is a well equipped and well appointed gite. There is plenty of crockery, cultlery, a dish washer, washing machine and dryer. We found a welcoming bottle of local wine and some basic food needs which was a nice surprise. The living area is spacious with some character features. The rear courtyard is shaded with a seating area and outdoor dining furniture. The front courtyard, which has sun in the afternoon, has a pool and loungers. The bedding was suitable for summer temperatures and the beds comfortable.
The village was quiet but beware the church bells ring every hour and half hour. It was a problem for one of our group. The nearest town is only about five minutes away which is convenient for shopping and restaurants. There is a bar in the village which appeared to be run by an Englishman.
The village is well situated to visit many interesting sites, villages and vineyards.
The property is located in a cul de sac which is easy to get to by car to drop of stuff but not so easy to get out of unless you are great at reversing in restricted spaces.
A couple of things that could have been better were:
Downstairs shower had mold on the walls.
The bottom of the pool could have been cleaner and the pool guys turned up one morning unexpected before we were dressed and would have let themselves into the gite to access equipment had we not noticed in time. This could have caused some embarrassment !
There was no hanging space in the third bedroom.
All in all we had a good time and we would recommend it.
Excellent property situated in a small village. Central for visiting numerous local attractions/villages. Spacious with the all important pool for those HOT days. Highly recommended.
Living like a God in France...
In the morning : breakfast in the sun,
In the afternoon : swimming in the pool in the sun,
In the evening : eating and bbq in the shadow.....
