“Incredible accommodation in an incredible setting”

The Byre is one of the few places we would consider going back to (as a rule we never return to same place twice). The location is fantastic, with several incredible walks right on your doorstep and yes the accommodation really is as spacious and comfortable as it looks in the pictures. There is also a Weber BBQ, so a real bonus if you cook outdoors a lot. David was a great host and looking back, we really miss just sat on the patio, watching the wildlife with a cup of tea and being sat in front of the fire with a beer / wine (both). A truly fantastic place and well worth the 5 1/2 drive.

Top tip: Do the Coledale or Newlands Round walks. Hard going but amazing and buy the Rib Eye from the butchers in Keswick - up there with any beef i had anywhere in the world :-)

Having been to The Lakes a few times , we thought to go at Christmas this time . We had a lovely time at The Byre. There was even a Christmas tree put up for us . The accommodation was spacious for two people . With everything you would need . We plan to return soon .

“Stunning”
Reviewed 19 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Everything about the Byre is simply stunning. The accommodation is enormous for two people whilst still being very cosy. Ceiling to floor Windows run the full length of the lounge giving lovely views over to Catbells. We enjoyed watching the many different species of bird visiting the feeders in the garden in a morning. Excellent facilities and superb log burner for warm cosy evenings. Great walks straight from the door. We generally like to try different holiday lets but this is our third visit to the Byre as we've not found anything in the Lakes that comes close.

“Superb!”
Reviewed 31 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We have just returned from a week staying in this wonderful place and were very pleased with all aspects of it. The house was of a high standard, most comfortable, spacious, cosy and warm, facilities and equipment were excellent and it was so tranquil and relaxing.
The views from every window were marvellous and you could have just enjoyed sitting looking out of the window all day, except there were loads of places to visit and things to do. There were many walks from the door without using the car, and we walked to Braithwaite, the nearest village, for bread and newspapers one morning via the corner of Barrow. Equally, it was a good centre for going further afield with the car, and getting quickly to the theatre in Keswick. We have stayed in and around Newlands Valley during the last 40 years so have a wide experience of the area, but this was a marvellous find and we can't wait to return.
