The cottage lived up to expectations mostly. However there are some quick wind that would have made it 100 % perfect. The cottage is more than 4 miles from the nearest shop and after a long drive a simple welcome pack including milk to facilitate a cup of tea or coffee would be beneficial. Also, the garden is wonderfully peaceful but with only two simple chairs provided, given the excessive heat there was no shade or table to keep refreshing drinks of the floor so a simple table with shade would have made a difference. The actual cottage advertises the double bed on the mezzanine floor as restricted. If you have any mobility issues you would struggle in this room. The best bits for me was the warm welcome from the hosts and the sheer peace and quiet with just bird song most days. We regularly were visited by green woodpeckers, various finches, black birds, buzzards, kestrals, etc. And on one morning one of my did bought me a live shrew. I haven't seen one of them for about 40 years;a real treat that I released back into the garden unhurt. Overall it was a lovely holiday with some simple cheap quick wind which if adopted would make the whole holiday a much better experience.
