“Quiet, comfortable, lovely hosts”
Reviewed 17 October 2011

My wife and I stayed for two nights on our way up to Monkey Mia earlier this month. We originally wanted to stay at Green Head, but could not get in because of school holidays. What good luck we had in finding The Heights B&B on Wotif. Room was very comfortable and with the B&B away from the town of Jurien Bay, it was whisper quiet. Just what a couple of 'spending the kids inheritance' travellers were looking for. Jane and Alan were wonderful hosts and we are delighted to recommend The Heights B&B as a great place to stay.

My wife & I stayed at The Heights B&B for one night on the weekend and enjoyed our stay. The building is quite new, the rooms clean, fresh and quite spacious enough we thought. Breakfast was self-serve cereals, milk, yogurt, toast, OJ in the lounge area. Tea, coffee & biscuits also available. Located 5 mins out of town easy to find, all bitumen roads, nice surroundings, we found the location to be excellent as a stop-over on a weekend of wildflower photography and would not hesitate to stay there again when travelling in the area.

I made the mistake of booking with my husband's credit card. At the very last moment his work precluded him from coming. I did not foresee any trouble as I was his wife and had paid for the stay. Well, you would have thought the world had come to an end. Jane was livid, angrily stating 3 times that she was going to throw me out as she had the 'right'. I had innocently assumed that someone who professed to be in the hospitality industry would have been a little hospitable, but she was not. At the last moment her long-suffering husband Alan stepped in and commonsense prevailed. I was 'allowed' to stay in the room I had paid for, but no apology for her bad manners was offered. A nasty experience all round.

Working in the Hospitality Industry and working with the Public for many years, Security is of the upmost importance. You will often be asked to produce identification with relation to your booking.

If you cannot supply the relivent information The Hotel has the right to refuse the booking.

The Heights B&B reserve the rights to ask uninvited persons to leave the property at once.

In this case The Heights B&B was in a situation where all or the above happend.

This situation came about with a booking made by the husband and the wife who chooses to use another name could not produce the required identification to say she was in fact married to the person who made the booking.

We then had a situation where the ladies Daughter arrives unanounced and is found calling her mother to open the room door. The lady was asked many times and we then opeened the door with the office keys.

We asked the Daughter to please leave at once..............The wife of the person who booked the room then produced a medicare card with all the members of the family named upon it.

We accepted the card as identification and took copies of the Drivers Licence and the Medicare Card of which we keep in our files for future reference.

If the Person who had made the booking, had just called us, there would not have been a problem.

My wife and I stay 3 nights at The Hieghts and were very impressed. The B&B is a basic but very nice and clean place, and Jane was an excellent host, providing us with an overview of the area attractions and restaurants. The B&B is a bit otuside of Jurien (about 10 minute drive to town), but is in avery secluded area with excellent stargazing you are into that. We stayed in room 1, which was very nice (direct patio access and further from the kitchen area), though all rooms looked very nice.

Pros:
Breakfast (ceral, toast, muesli, yogurt, coffee, tea, milk, juice) available 24 hours and self serve
Quiet, secluded location
Excellent hosts
Very clean room/bathroom
Good amount of wildlife around the hotel
Excellent value for AUD 120 per night

Cons:
Walls are a bit thin, but noise was not too much of an issue
Towels were a bit worn

Overall an excellent stay, and would definitely return. Excellent accomodations as compared to many other places in the Cervantes/Jurien area we saw.
