We visited in the first week of April, the end of dry season. The drive up from San Jose was dusty and a bit adventurous. Imagine our delight seeing the grounds of el Socorro. It is a cheerful working farm with many different animals and a beautiful garden, at the edge of a private unspoiled woodland, complete with a private river and and a waterfall. We enjoyed hiking, swimming, horseback riding and doing/watching farm chores with our gracious host Don Jose. We especially liked the birdwatching- so many varieties just around the house and on the road in front of the farm. The cabin was very comfortable and clean. The home cooking of Donna Maria Isabel was abundant and delicious. We hope to come back next time with better Spanish skills to learn more about local flora and fauna, the land and the people.
