Stayed at the stables for 1 night wish i had stayed more so relaxing and quiet. Room was perfect with kitchenette dining area ect and clean . apparently theres a teddy bear added to your room too as a little gesture but ours must have gone on a picnic or was playing hide and seek couldnt find it. We looked around and discovered the lovely walled garden which we couldnt enjoy due to weather bucketing down with rain but would be great in warm weather but there is a cosy conservatory with log burner for cooler weather and a tv. We also walked to the tennis court a bit neglected but tennis rackets ect are provided if you want a game be careful on walk up though as slippy ground due to rain my poor husband fell over and jarred himself was ok after a hot bath and a painkiller. But had a lovely stay and slept great will be returning for longer next time

Stayed at the Stables for a hen weekend. Lovely old building in beautiful setting. Needs a bit of updating ie painting, some of the bathrooms were a bit grotty. The main issue is to get to the communal areas ie conservatory, kitchen/ diner you have to go outside and down some steep stone steps which would be a pain if it was raining. Also there are no toilet facilities in the communal areas, so every time you need the loo you have to go outside and back to your room, again not great if raining. Picture of the dining room is deceiving as it is part of the kitchen and quite a tight squeeze. Booked caterers for the Saturday evening who were excellent (Brook Bottom Caterers). Unfortunately to get to the kitchen they had to go through 3 different lots of stairs (one being outside stone ones) to carry all the things to the kitchen - I rang the people I booked with as there was a fire exit off the kitchen that backed onto a courtyard to see if they could come and unlock for the caterers - was told the door hadn't opened for years - strange as the caterer was shown the kitchen only 3 days before through that door!! MOST UNHELPFUL. That said we all had a lovely time and was great to be able to fit 20 in together.

How easy was it to book the property? How easy was key pickup/access to the property?

Management Response

Thank you for taking the time to write the review, Im sorry about the access to the kitchen the caterers were told quite categorically that they would not be able to gain access through the door due door marked private as the adjacent property would be occupied an alternative door off the main garden could be opened this was not requested, we are currently repainting and new windows are being installed in the near future, we do not advertise as having a wc in the communal area, the nearest of the 11 toilets in the property the is approx 10-15 yards away.
