cute guys, a little smelly and very lazy! Don't go closer than 30 metres, they prefer the south beach on Düne

The archipelago consists of two islands, the main Island Helgoland and smaller Düne (the Dune). The populated Helgoland is the place where you can observe seabirds. The earless seals lounge around on sandy beaches of Düne. The small ferryboat cruises between the two islands every half an hour. Accommodation possibilities are limited on the Düne. There are a few bungalows and a small campsite on the small island but zou can use many guest houses and small hotels on the Helgoland. The islands are accesible either by ships from ports on the north-west german coast or by a small plane (an airstrip on the Düne).

These things to speak for themselves. Take a walk alongside the beach and watch the animals in their natural habitat. If you like to learn more, I recommend you to go on a tour and hear the explanation of the professionals. Also during Wintertime when the newborns meet the world, it is great to stroll on the Sandy island, but because of the babies and their protective mothers you really should take care where you are walking. Also please take note that you keep your distance of 30 meters, because they are wild animals and we (ought to) prefer them to keep them that way.

Went to Dune with a local guide, and again solo, saw so many seals, would like to return in summer for camping and swimming. A fine destination even in the middle of winter.
