Eucla Amber hotel compared to Border village is the ritz!! Not queit... but it was nice, clean and staff were great! Check out the garden behind the servo a bit of hidden jewel. The pool was empty. BBQ's and camp kitchen down a path from motel rooms in the caravan park which was so much nicer and alot better than the dodgy border village!!! Gas bbq'sin park and an electric plate itn the camp kitchen.

Take the time to see the telegraph ruins and the jetty! Dont lose the track on the way back from the jetty you'll have to climb a huge dune to get back on track!! Hubby was in a bit of a panic as I'd taken a little longer to return!! OOps !! Worth a look nice walk from the ruins to the jetty, pretty cool looking east to the cliffs of the great Aussie bight!

This motel was a gem and I'm so glad I stopped there! The room was sheer luxury and lovely to spend time in after a couple of days on the Nullarbor. Everything was a great standard, although one of the more expensive places I stayed. It did seem like an oasis in the desert and my room had an ocean view, at an angle!

Definitely worth staying here to take a drive down to the beach and sand dunes, to see the old telegraph station and jetty, which is a beautiful area.

The restaurant let the side down - very much roadhouse food and decor, considering the rest of the place. I think there may have been another restaurant area which wasn't open, so it was just a kind of cafe at the front.

Eucla is a place in the middle of nowhere to stop for fuel, food, drink and a bed for the night.
In this regard this hotel has it covered.
The staff we encountered were friendly. The other guests in the bar/dining room were friendly too. The food menu was limited (remember where you are and order simple fare) but pretty good. No complaints. It is not cheap but consider the cost of transport....
The hotel room was clean, but very old and more tired than us even after driving 900km that day! The bed was newish and ok for a nights sleep.
It more than served its purpose and we hit the road early the next day.

Just remember where this hotel is situated, you've just come across the Nullabor.... the staff are friendly, the rooms are clean, room decor is circa late 60's. It's no Versace, but it's a reasonable place to stop for the night. Food is pricey in restaurant, expect loads of flys in Summer (don't leave your room door open) but they have great takeaway coffee...the old telegraph station & jetty worth a peek, the jetty is at least 1.5kms walk from the ruins, you are walking in soft sand, it's a beautiful beach if you are keen. Check out the history behind this place...

We used the $20 powered site for the night and were reasonably pleased with what we got for the price. It does seem very cheap but don't forget the showers will cost you $1 for 5mins. The cooking facilities had a mouse in it with plenty of bugs and spiders to match. It is rural Australia so you must expect this. The staff were very friendly and even let us look in the executive suites. For $165 a night a self contained room might be more your thing. The beach is 4kms away with another lengthy walk unless you have a 4WD. The view isn't that great so you might rethink the trek. Budget rooms are like any other (no air-con).

Initially we were concerned with the security of the grounds but with so many other campers around, it makes for a very friendly atmosphere.
