We wanted to pass to 2014 in the north of Germany and choose Kühlungsborn, where we have already been in summer. As we were a bit late, the Residenz Waldkrone was one of the last hotel with free rooms. And we did not regret it one second! It was great! Very good room, large, excellent food; the buffet for New-Year was large, varied, and marvellously prepared and cooked.
A large and varied breakfeast table. A constantly friendly service. And agreably, possibility to eat fish each evening!
A place we think to use another time!

Room Tip: Take an appartement instead of a simple room. A bit more expensive, but dilightful. In many place, this would already be named "suite"!

We were entirely satisfied with our stay at the Hotel Waldkrone which is situated on the West Promenade of Kühlungsborn. The standard double room which we booked was spacious, recently remodelled and modern equipped with a super comfortable bed, the WC separated from the bathroom. The bathtube was probably from the 80ies, but it was clean and made a change from the shower cabins. The free internet was working perfectly.
The location is quite, but still central, near to the beach, the coffee shops on the promenade and with many restaurants are in walking distance. Behind the hotel is sufficient free parking space.
The restaurant is old-fashioned elegant, in the evening set for candlelight diners, nonetheless cosy and inviting. The food was tasty. Also 4 course diner for guests on half board is offered at a affordable rate. The breakfast buffet was richly garnished. Not to be missed at the Ostsee the selection of smoked and pickled fish. Eggs are freshly prepared, fresh fruits, muesli for the health conscious, various breads and a large variety of cold cuts was available.
Due to the fact that this is an old building and in spite that it is very well kept, a lift is missing. This may make a stay for physically challenged people cumbersome.
As already said we were happy with our stay and liked the attentive service of this family owned hotel.

Room Tip: Remodeled rooms are available
