The overall holiday was great, good facilities and tent pitches. The location is really nice and close to the beach.

The only downside was the food we bought from the takeaway, it was horrendous! Oil soaked chips and apparently that was chicken kebab (see pics) was refused a refund so we threw in the bin.

This is a fantastically positioned site, right by an amazing beach. Staff were very helpful and friendly. However, the site is screaming out for some love. Needs a good tidy up and update all round. This has to be the first time I have EVER been anywhere where you have to collect your toilet roll before entering your cubical........what is that about?!?!?
With a bit of tlc this could be a totally unbelievable site due to its location.
Disappointed.
The 3 stars are for the staff.

Could be Cornwall’s premier caravan site.
We had stayed here with our touring caravan some years ago, the site was in pretty poor condition then, so this summer we decided to come back and see if it had improved, the site now looks like the owners have given up, rubbish strewn all over the place, toilet/shower blocks and a club house that look like they need demolishing and re-building, a shop that has nothing in it and people partying and playing loud music past midnight.
The plus point to Harlyn Sands is that you can walk from the site carrying surf boards and kayaks about 150 metres straight down onto the beach!
So, with a winter of TLC and investment, this could be the best caravan site in North Cornwall, unfortunately, at this point, it’s one of the worst, and is not helped with some punter’s mind set of ‘well it looks like a dump, so let’s treat it like a dump’, when we first got there we had to clean up dog poo before setting up our awning (not nice for someone who doesn’t have a dog)
I would be back here in a flash if they invested, re-built and repaired, I’d even be prepared to pay that bit extra.

We booked a few nights and then looked at the reviews for this site. Oh dear, what had we done? There are probably not a lot of new things to say. We had a nice welcome from reception and many of the staff were friendly and helpful. The facilities are quite good, with a bar, entertainment, indoor pool etc. As many have said the facilities are a little dated and tired and the site has various bits that are neglected and old campervans and building gear sprinkled around. There was a conscientious loo/showers cleaner in operation twice a day and the level of cleanliness was pretty good. The weird thing with having communual toilet rolls is well....... weird - and inconvenient and wasteful. But hey, have we not been to european countries and loo facilities are pretty basic? A word of warning for those that think the swimming pool is for swimming- we were there when there was some pretty loutish " water polo" ball throwing behaviour by adults that should have maybe been more considerate. We were there when the schools had gone back so occupancy was very low and the additional camping field empty. I imagine things would be different but not better with anywhere near full occupancy . The location is obviously superb and judging by the repeated reviews over the years high lighting the same issues it is likely that customer feedback is not readily acted upon by the owners. In a nutshell, fab location, mostly great staff, and loads of potential.
