Villa Michaela is five minutes walk from the centre of the picturesque village of Vorno with a delicious family run restaurant and pizzeria, Il Bimbotto. There are many other restaurants within 10 minutes drive - notably La Cecca at
Coselli (written up by The Sunday Times as one of the best restaurants in Tuscany - pigeon risotto being a speciality) and Lo Scompiglio in Vorno which has wonderful views from it's large terrace over vineyards towards the hills. The extensive market gardens in front of the restaurant are the source of all the delicious fresh produce served.
The villa is perfectly situated to explore the wonders of the Renaissance, the Leaning Tower and Duomo in Pisa, the wonders of Florence and Siena, wine and olive oil tasting in Lucca hills, cooking lessons, thermal spa treatments at Montecatini Terme - children at Villa Michaela enjoy the snooker room and hikes up the hill at the olive groves.
Lucca itself was voted by Forbes magazine as the second most attractive place in the word to live and visit and bicycling around the mediaeval walls is an experience never to be forgotten. Throughout the year there are many activities starting with the carnival in Viareggio, the March Camellia Festival in Pieve di Compito, wonderful Easter Parades, great concerts including Andrea Bocelli in July, art exhibitions, markets, fashion outlets, the Lucca half marathon and of course bicycling galore in the famous Lucchese hills.

I booked Villa Michaela following the Trip Advisor recommendations for a short break with a group of friends. The villa is amazing, and you feel at home straight away. The huge kitchen is great and on our last day we had our evening meal in the wonderful dining room complete with chandeliers. None of us has ever been anywhere like it and I think we will be hard pushed to find something as luxurious but at the same time somewhere as comfortable. Amazing place!

Fabulous, nothing like it!
We heard about Villa Michaela from a friend who recommended it highly and decided to spend a week in June.
I have experienced the best in the south of France, in Spain, etc., but must say Villa Michaela tops it all. It is one of a kind, beautifully maintained, clean, David and the staff are wonderfully helpful. Word of caution - the food is so great, I gained a couple of pounds.
The setting is magnificent, it's great to hang out around the pool, or play tennis. We decided that a yearly visit is a must - so we will be back.
Thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend it.

Wonderful and memorable place!
I was fortunate to have the wedding of my dreams in the chapel at Villa Michaela - What a fabulous most beautiful place with brilliant and attentive hosts! It will always be a time I will never forget -- the villa is nestled in the gorgeous Vorno valley surrounded by beautiful olive groves and Lucca is a short drive/bus ride away. I highly recommend Villa Michaela - we still talk about that fabulous weekend and can't wait to visit again!

Fantastic experience
I stayed at Villa Michaela last summer whilst travelling around Italy. Although it is a hard feat in such a beautiful country, it was without doubt one of the most breathtaking places that we stayed, that is both the villa and the surrounding area. I was immediately blown away by the beautiful architecture and the elegance of the villa. However what really made the trip memorable was the relaxed and hospitable attitude of the hosts! Quintessentially Italian, Villa Michaela captured the prefect balance between grandeur and homeliness; the ideal mix for a holiday! I would highly recommend this to anyone, a short bus ride form Lucca it is an ideal getaway.

The Best Holiday.
Villa Michaela is a place like no other. This summer I went to Italy with the intention of backpacking round the country, but once I arrived at this stunning Villa I was cured of my travelling bug and wished I could stay there for the whole month! The house is beautifully decorated, each room more exquisite and full of character than the last. The hosts were extremely welcoming and fantastic company. Meal times were a particular highlight with delicious Italian food, candlelight and laughter. Honestly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. If you find a spare moment in between playing tennis on the outdoor court, swimming in the pool or wandering around the delightful local town, I challenge you to climb up to the view point. You'll then know that I'm not exaggerating!

I thought I was dreaming!!
From the moment I arrived in this magical place I knew my last minute weekend plans had been a success. The warm welcome I received from everyone at Villa Michaela made me feel part of the family straight away.
Delicious food (and lots of it!), decedent accommodation, fine company and gorgeous surroundings...what more could you want!? Perhaps a laid back swimming pool, tennis court above the house and freedom to roam the countryside - or indeed nearby historic walled city Lucca - if you so wish? It's all there.
I can't wait to go back, already rounding up my friends and family to join me next year! x

Country Splendour close to Lucca
I spent five days at Villa Michaela last summer and I was blown away by the beauty of the location, a hill covered with olive trees behind and in front, views of mountains in the distance. The house is huge and elegant, beautifully done up with a grandeur that is inspiring and yet extremely comfortable and cosy. The dining room is enormous and has several massive chandeliers gracing the ceiling and lighting the table and yet one could be as happy in there with six people as sixteen. The swimming pool is also enormous and with a clever half moon pool one end that is separated by a low wall making it ideal for children or for sunbathing but staying cool. The house has an Italian feel to it, frescoes, a limonaea and also all the mod cons like air conditioning in the enormous bedrooms. Also the tennis court is a huge bonus. The other thing I liked was being able to either walk up the mountain by turning right out of the gates or down to the fun of the village by turning left out of the gates. A bus in the square would take us to Lucca so I did not even need a car. It was a magic five days and I would definitely return.
