I came here in feb 2017 with my father. We thought the resort was beautiful, the mountain was incredible, and conditions were outstanding. The runs were groomed to perfection, there was never a stitch of ice, and the views were out of this world! Our only complaint was the resort was so busy, we were waiting in a lot of lines, at the chairlift, restaurants, and sometimes the runs were so busy it almost seemed hazardous. The blue and black runs were almost always empty, but some of the main runs and connecting runs were crowded. The restaurants were great, and well priced! It isn't much of a rustic off the grid place, but it's perfect for families! I hope to be back one day! Loved it.

Hi April,

Thank you so much for your review - we're so glad you enjoyed the conditions, the groomers and the restaurant. There's nothing better than skiing some fresh corduroy while looking out over the mountains! We're sorry to hear that you experienced the resort at a busier time - generally we pride ourselves on being the kind of resort where you'll never wait in a lift line longer than five minutes. We hope to see you back again at a quieter time of the season!

We stayed for a week over Christmas and loved every minute of it. From the fantastic Black Bear Lodge with a private spa on the patio, to the restaurants that cater for all types and price ranges to the celebrations on Christmas Eve, the staff were busy but great, and most were from Aussieland. It was exactly what we wanted for our first white Christmas as a family.

Hi jnshodges,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about Big White Ski Resort. It's great that you got to see our resort all lit up for Christmas time. Christmas is definitely one of our busiest times of year, but also our most exciting time of year! Over Christmas and January we welcome many guests from Australia and overseas. We hope to see you and the family back next winter!

Big White is an unpretentious family resort with authentic hospitality. Unlike the major ski resorts Big White does not have the feel of corporate commercialization. In addition to families, the resort accommodates groups, with which I traveled.
Aside from skiing there are other activities available including ice skating, ice hockey, snow tubing, snowmobiling, and ice climbing.
The resort is about 50 minutes from Kelowna so it is fairly isolated. With that in mind Big White has a variety of dining choices including a well stocked grocery store. There are a number of hotels as well as resort homes and condominiums at Big White which the store serves.
Big White offer a fairly decent variety of ski runs, mostly blue and single black diamond runs. (As with all ski mountains the conditions will vary throughout the day.) The main runs are groomed on a regular basis.
The ski runs are fairly well marked although certain runs are difficult to find (Born to Run for example.) It was almost impossible to find the race course for our club ski race.
The seasonal on mountain staff were primarily from Australia and Great Britain. They were very helpful, pleasant, and greatly contributed to the experience. (No "locals" only attitude.)
Unlike many of the big resort the skiers and boarders were well behaved and pleasant. (I was there an entire week and did not see people, including teenagers with electronic devices stuck to their faces!) Overall Big White has the feel of what ski resorts were back in the 1960s and 1970s, and is a great destination.
