Chapelwick is a super B&B for a country "escape". Lovely drive there and many central Hawke's Bay country roads to explore. Great hosts, superb food (dinner and breakfast), wonderful home that is very grand inside. The Hunter suite is exceptional and like a small apartment: massive bedroom with dining area, small sitting area, balcony and very large en-suite bathroom. The old chapel and the grounds, with its many old fruit trees, are lovely. All in all a great and memorable experience.

Room Tip: Hunter suite is excellent.

I have attended a few events at Chapelwick, the space is redolent with history, charm and authenticity. I look forward to when I can stay there as a guest ! As a venue it is old world ( or as old as we can get in Nz) meets new, I love the original carpets, staircase balustrades, 1930's pool and tennis courts, and the 'Chapel' itself with the original Font, despite earthquake damage. the new owners are lovely and inject a great new energy.

We were lucky to be the only guests there in that we had the run of the house and gardens to ourselves, so it felt like having our own country house with private staff. We stayed in the large suite to really maximize our experience. We had a fantastic time and were very well cared for by the staff there who brought us after dinner drinks and dessert and the most delicious breakfast from ingredients largely found on the property. We enjoyed walking through the gardens and the private chapel and were encourage to help ourselves to as much fruit from the orchard as we could carry away. Highly recommended Just watch out for the stroppy brown alpaca!

Room Tip: Book the suites at the front of the house - cost a little more but have the best views.

We spent the weekend at Chaplewick for my birthday. We had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and the Hunter Suite is amazing. We were here in winter time and the fireplaces were going the whole time keeping the whole house cozy and warm. It is cool to visit with the Chaplewick animals. We had an awesome time and highly recommend a getaway at Chaplewick. 5 stars!

Chapelwick is such a delight, our 2 nights here were very enjoyable, it’s the perfect place to relax. The rooms were tastefully furnished & beds very comfy. All rooms have a view but we stayed in one with an ocean view, perfect for us!
The shared bathroom was not a problem.
Free wifi is a bonus especially as there was no cell phone reception, although it was good not to be bothered by the phone!
Nice grounds & gardens to wander round & explore. The historic Chapel is really lovely. Need to return in summer to make use of the pool & tennis court.
Deborah, Sandra and Pat were very welcoming & we had a wonderful home cooked dinner, comparable to any city restaurant. Most of the food is sourced from the property so was very fresh & tasty. Yum!
The breakfast was awesome: cereal & fruit (from the orchard), bacon, sausage, free range eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms ….didn’t need lunch after all of that.
Fabulous hospitality, thanks Deborah, Sandra and Pat.
We plan to visit again & won’t leave it too long.

Room Tip: All rooms have views & are charming
