Chapelwick is a gem ! Far from the madding crowd, it is quiet and peaceful, surrounded by beautiful grounds, with a charming chapel and wrapped in amazing coastal scenery. You will be made to feel like a family member by Reawyn and Rod as soon as you arrive: we rolled up at 10pm, having underestimated the driving time from Wellington on the scenic and deserted backroads, but were promptly served tea and sticky date pudding !

The following day we visited local vineyards and had high tea at Oruawharo Estate (also highly recommended), which was all arranged for us by Raewyn. Thanks so much. We will be back soon !

We have just spent a wonderful couple of nights at Chapelwick. No ostentation here but a real home from home. The Hunter Suite has been refurbished and is absolutely beautiful with it's own balcony and en suite. Rod and Raewyn were wonderful hosts (along with Rod's mother) and we enjoyed watching the lambs being fed, the local pheasant and collecting fresh eggs. We'd walk the estate with Monty, the dog, and laugh at him trying to catch the rabbits - we're not saying whether he caught one or not! Why go to the local pub for a meal with Raewyn's wonderful cooking, who cared if the dessert was 10 minutes "late" - it was still baking in the oven and arrived warm and fresh. The library was stocked with enough books and games to keep one occupied for hours. The area is stunning with wonderful deserted beaches - certainly the forgotten coast and worth a visit, as indeed is Chapelwick. Thanks for the fruit from the orchard Raewyn, delicious.

Room Tip: The Hunter Suite is to be recommended, the only one with en suite, and wonderful views and a bath...

We will always look to revisiting Chapelwick when we go home to NZ. Raewyn is a wonderful hostess - warm and intuitive, she immediately feels like part of the family. She has all the history at her fingertips! The food is delicious all the way from breakfast to a platter by the pool, to dinner. The homestead is truly vintage, the interior authentic, tasteful and welcoming. We enjoyed the other guests aswell as Raewyn and one another. The surrounds are one exciting discovery after the next! The oldworld swimming pool is sparkling and fresh, the gardens are lovely and the lawns are a barefooted player's dream - no prickles! The little chapel is completely delightful and so are the animals (where's your ball Monty?). We couldn't keep out of the orchard. I wanted to make plum pudding, plum jam, plum crumble, plum sauce, plum dumplings, plum cake and plum stuffing. Then there's the apricots... and the apples... and, and, and...! I walked across the paddocks all the way to the sea. Raewyn has super suggestions about things to see and places to go. We slept like logs and wish Rod & Raewyn all the best of luck for the future. No wonder you're so popular! Cheers, Sandy, Henre & Simon

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely. Some people might especially like balcony rooms but with big slide-up wind...

My husband and I stay at Chapelwick at least once a year to recharge the batteries. The hosts are very welcoming and really look after you. It is a gorgeous place in the summer, so peaceful and quiet but winter is a special time too with the log fires burning and a great selection of reading material at hand as well as board games and etc for the children. If you are lucky enough to stay for dinner you won't be disappointed and the breakfast is excellent. We think it is great value for money - a place for families, couples or groups, everyone is catered for.

Room Tip: The family suite is very spacious with plenty of room for the children and gorgeous views!

We (two adults and two teenagers) spent a most relaxing two days at Chapelwick just prior to Christmas and would highly recommend it for a family break. The kids had a great time in the Billiard Room and had the added bonus of tennis and feeding the lambs. A fire in the evening added to the atmosphere (something of a bonus in late December) and a wander through the orchard with its wonderful old plum trees in full fruit is not to be missed
