If you like to visit some nice Roman ruins, this is the place. There is also a nice shopping street and a treat of a magnificent, old Roman bridge at the end of it. The mountains and wineries in the general area top it off.
We ( my two daughters and I) stayed in this fabulous apartment for a week. It is a beautifully presented, extremely spacious and elegant apartment. The pictures just do not do it justice. It is situated in an historic area of Vaison, directly opposite the Roman ruins. The hosts, Claude and Colette couldn't have been more welcoming and generous.
We travelled by Eurostar and we were met at the station by Claude and Colette. Claude transported our luggage in his car and Colette walked the short distance with us from the station to the apartment.
On entering the apartment we were hugely impressed. There on the large dining table was a welcome pack consisting of not 1 but 2 bottles of delicious wine (red and white) and a bowl of fresh fruits. As if this in itself wasn't welcoming enough, towards the end of the week we were further invited for Apertifs in their home ( hosts live downstairs) where we met Jeanette, Colette's sister. Sadly Claude wasn't feeling that well so he was unable to be there but we were made so welcome and it felt more as if we were visiting old friends rather than the proprietor - and this despite our poor French language skills
The generous garden is a real bonus and we ate breakfast outside every morning. On the occasions when we wanted to try local produce , for example for dinner, the apartment is so well equipped with oven, microwave and even an electric bbq we were able to cook a delicious dinner and dine outside on our private terrace listening to the birds sing. Bliss!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return as soon as the opportunity presents itself
Thank you Colette and Claud!!
We stayed in this apartment for a week. It has everything you might need, from a full complement of kitchen gear, to a picnic cooler, to extra towels and blankets, to guidebooks. Situated across a pedestrian path from the Roman ruins, the apartment is spacious and quiet. With two large bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, an elevator, a fireplace (with wood supplied and a fire ready to light), a laundry room, and a lovely and large terrace, the hosts have thought of everything. It has more than one tv (we never turned them on), excellent wifi, and a telephone. It is a great place to relax, or it is an easy walk to all of Vaison. The hosts ferry baggage from the nearby carpark (free), so no need to worry about having a parking spot onsite. There is great cross ventilation, beautiful light, views of the ruins and the old city, and unobtrusive, but extraordinarily accommodating and kind hosts. I have stayed in dozens of vacation rentals and I have never found one better equipped or with such delightful hosts. It is a perfect place from which to enjoy Vaison and the surrounding countryside. We will be back.
