Hotel is situated on the island itself, the parking reserved for hotel is 2 km far and need a shuttle to get to the hotel. Nether hotels.com nor hotel itself informed us about a parking, we had to figure out how to dial a French phone ## from international phone to get a parking lot #. 4-th floor without elevator or help from staff w. luggage. Narrow bathroom , only flexible & fit person can get to the bathtub to shower/bath. Holes in the tiles of the bath. Lock was broken.

Please don't waste your time at this hotel. The staff are rude. There are endless stairs and reception has no one to help with luggage. Even though two people in our group were 80 years old.
The room was basic with no tea or coffee. One room had a kettle with a tea bag and nothing else.
The bathroom was basic with no shower.
None of this would have mattered if this was a two star hotel. But this hotel charged an absolute fortune and advertises itself as a great luxurious experience.
On top of that the cost of breakfast was extortionate. As is the fact that their world famous Soufflé Omelette is an extortionate €38 for a plain one and more if you dare to have something else in it. When you consider that it's actually full of hot air it's disgusting to charge people that much for it. I wonder if Mere Poulard herself ripped off weary pilgrims coming to Mont Saint Michel after a long trek to get here on cold nights.
The Poulard empire seems to have a monopoly on this rock...all the restaurants belonged to them and had the same tiresome menus. All over priced.
They rip you off because they are Mont Saint Michel and they know if you stay here overnight you have to eat here.
My advice is to NOT stay here. Stay outside and travel in for one day. Mont Saint Michel is a day trip and not more.
Apart from Abbey, there's nothing else to see.
I expected for the price I paid for La Mere Poulard Hotel to have some luxury. I got nothing but rudeness and theft of my money.
Don't stay here.

In 1890 the hotel was famous for hospitality & special omelettes & has boasted many famous visitors.

Now the room has shabby carpet, curtain rail & curtain missing & minimal rude service.

Having taken a 4 hour trip from Paris we found long queues for the shuttle bus. We pushed our large suitcases for an hour & walked to the island.

At reception, Dian on the desk gazed out the window & at a computer screen while we waited.

Finally he gave us keys saying your room is on the fourth floor.
I asked for help with my luggage to be told there was no one to help.

Replying 'I am 69 & after a long journey would have trouble ascending the stairs & am unable to carry my case up" I insisted on help.

Dian then carried the cases up to a room & left.

We were unable to lock the door & no one was at the desk.

Later we returned & Dian came up with us & had given us the wrong room. No assistance was given to move our belongings. While we were doing so he sent up another couple while we were vacating the room . This was very embarrassing.

No wifi info was given. He did not tell us we could acess the 2nd floor from the ramparts. He did not tell us breakfast was not included.

When checking out at 11 am we waited in an upstairs lounge before making our travel connection as it was raining heavily. We were told to leave as it is a function area.
There is no waiting area at reception.

$1000 Australian for 3 nights accomodation & buffet breakfast.

Astoundingly rude & poor service.

I would recommend staying off the Island at Barrage the shuttle is free & runs 5 minutely all day or it is walking distance & you have full view of the island.

This hotel lets down a landmark tourist destination. It is understaffed & poorly maintained.

We spent four nights at La Mere Poulard.

We were left with the powerful impression that it was not just the cows in Normandy being milked.
The fellow at reception (Dion) suffered from terminal disinterest in his clientele.
We had a very pleasant but tired room on the fourth floor accessed by a very narrow and steep staircase.
He declined to assist with our luggage until my wife put her foot down. Also, the ;young American couple in the room next to us, were met with the same disinterest and the fellow steadfastly refused to assist them at all with their luggage. The fellow at reception also avoided eye contact with any of us and it was clear he was not enjoying his job.

The chambermaids worked very hard and diligently to service the rooms and they were magnificent. Their job was not made any easier by the the stained and worn out carpets in our rooms.

The breakfasts (we stayed four nights) were generous and offered a wide variety of fresh foods (apart from tired gelatinous fruit salad).

We found the costs of accommodation and the additional costs of the breakfasts to be excessive, and we would recommend that when prospective travelers staying on Mont St Michel should canvas other options before considering a night or to with this tired old lady who is sadly resting on her laurels.

Room Tip: cosnider looking elsewhere, but the garret rooms are attractive

Great location, good services, furniture to be improved. Historical photos on the walls make you feel proud of sharing the location. The restaurant concept is very interesting. Prices are higher than quality overall, though...
