Was put up here by the tour company, Newmarket as a base for our visits around WW1 Battlefields. It was a bad choice. I don't think Newmarket knew much about it as they have only just started using it. The rooms were very basic but clean. No wardrobe or room safe. Shower was good but the toilet dripped and was heavily stained. The breakfast was the worst experience I ahve had at any hotel. The food was good and varied, if you could get any. They very quickly ran out of most things including plates and cutlery. It was understaffed and they were non too pleased when we complained. The coffee machine was also not working. Some of our party had no breakfast at all due to lack of food etc. On our return each evening around 9.30pm we were told that the bar was not allowed to sell alcholic drinks! The one lift was slow so most of our party had to haul cases, in some instances up four flights of stairs. Definitely not a hotel of choice.
