From the friendly welcome to sadly having to say goodbye it was a pleasure to stay at Gite le Jardin. The accommodation offers everything you could need, is spotlessly clean and situated 10 minutes leisurely walk from the centre of town. Off street secure parking is a real bonus. It's so peaceful that it's hard to believe you are so close to the town its a real little oasis of calm. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Arras at a very competitive price this is hard to beat.
We had a very warm welcome from Gerald and he and his family could not have been more helpful. The gite is very comfortable, well-equipped, has private parking and is ideally placed for a short walk into town where there are many restaurants and bars. Highly recommended!
I booked only a few days in advance and had limited choices available to me, noting that it was a public holiday weekend. I narrowed my choices down to Gîte le Jardin and a major chain hotel near to the train station. Both were similarly priced (with Gîte le Jardin slightly cheaper). Gîte le Jardin appeared to have larger rooms, so I chose it.
I am so glad I chose Gîte le Jardin. The room was very spacious, there was a huge bathroom, and I had all the amenities I could possibly need for a short stay - and more! Everything was very clean and modern, and the location was tranquil, with an outdoor area immediately outside my door.
A note to potential future guests: when I arrived it was not clear from the outside that I was at the right place as there was no reception/lobby (such as there would have been at a hotel). However, there was a buzzer (intercom) and a small sign located at the gate at number 27 that pointed me in the right direction.
All of the places I visited were within walking distance of Gîte le Jardin, including Place des Héros, Grand Place, l'Hotel de Ville (including the Office of Tourism, the belfry and the boves), the Saturday markets, la Carrière Wellington, and le Musée des Beaux-Arts. There were a few other places I would have liked to have visited that were slightly out of Arras, that were accessible by train, car, shuttle bus or private tour. As I was only there for two nights I did not have time to explore.
The owners spoke only very limited English, but between that and my very limited French, we communicated just fine.
This place has no downsides...
Well, there is one: wifi did not work continuesly. Somewhat frustrating.
All the positives: super clean, super nice people, who rent it out, own parking spot, everything you need is there, including a good bed, nice shower, outside area for two. It's on the other side from the trainstation, but nonetheless a five minute walk to la grand place etc in the city centre. Not expensive.

This "Gite" was compact, perfectly clean, and adequately equipped with cooking, eating, and refrigeration facilities. The owners were friendly and helpful (not much English). The location was five minutes from the train station, helpful for train travel in the vicinity, and still very quiet because of the silent nature of French trains. The location, enclosed behind a lockable fence, was secure. We did not spend much time lounging about in the "Gite", so the lack of comfortable padded chairs was not a problem. The beds were firm, we slept well. The November weather froze at night, but the "Gite" was comfortably warm, with electric radiator heat.
