I cannot say just how much we enjoyed our stay in Villa Helena. The Villa was superbly equipped with everything you could possibly need. All the rooms were decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Outside the dining area, sun terraces and pool were immaculate with Thea and her father cleaning the pool and outside areas every morning, before we awoke. To add to our pleasure we were left little presents of home grown produce and wine. The villa was very private but close to amenities and restaurants. We would highly recommend Villa Helena for anyone looking to stay on Brac.
We were looking for a quieter stay on a Dalmatian island after visiting Dubrovnik and found this beautiful, brand new Villa with a pool in Milna. The fast catamaran ferry from Dubrovnik to Split, operated by Kapetan Luka, stops in the peaceful village of Milna on the Dalmatian island Brac. This was perfect for our group of 5 after a fun but very busy holiday in Dubrovnik.
Villa Helena was outstanding. We were one of the very first groups to rent it after Evo and Helena Marcelina built it as a retirement income rental in 2015. They did not skimp in any aspect of the construction or finish of this 3 bedroom, 3 bath home. The layout has 2 nicely separated bedrooms upstairs and one in a separate wing on the main floor. The layout was perfect for our group. My wife and I were celebrating our 40th anniversary, and one married daughter with her husband and a single daughter were travelling with us. Each of our 3 groups had perfect privacy with the ensuite bathrooms off each bedroom. There are both indoor and outdoor dining tables. We used the covered outdoor table most often, and even the stone oven barbeque. All the cooking, dining and glassware you will need are present and it is also of excellent quality. The pool area is also finished in stone and tile, and there is both a rock garden area and a true garden on the property. Evo and Helena, who live in Split, have their own traditional cottage next door. They left treats for us from the garden and an excellent bottle of local wine from a nearby private winery on our arrival. Evo met us on arrival and showed us around in a very low key way. The next evening we had some question and stopped over at their place next door. How gracious he and Helena were!! They invited the 3 of us in and served us their homemade walnut liquor as we talked about Milna and the the area and their sharing time between Milan and Split after his retirement. What a wonderful couple!!
There is a paved downhill walk 2 blocks into town, with a nice restaurant half way, and a small number of other good ones in town. The town is a popular stop for the sailing crowd with an excellent harbour. We watched a sailboat race from near the finish line at the very clean and comfortable pebble beach at the western edge of town on the north side. At the beginning of May, the water was cool but swimming was good. The village center is scenic and quaint. One or two of us would stroll into town in the early morning for baking, daily picked cherries that someone was selling on the harbour, and a look over the fishermen's daily catch. Afternoon and evening can be a bit livelier if small cruising vessels dock here, but the town never felt crowded.
All in all a great spot for a vacation and a superb rental propery.
