“Great little appartment”
Reviewed 4 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Well equipped and very convenient bedsit. In the centre of a lively mountain spa and resort, but quiet and quite airy. Everything was in good order and worked well. Ideal for those who want a convenient base for the high Pyrenees.

“Basic facilities and badly oragnised rental arrangements”

Cauterets is a lovely little spa town nestled in the mountains, perfect for downhill skiing, cross country skiing and hiking. The studio is perfectly situated in the centre, very close to the telecabine and bars, restaurants etc... You don't really need a car; the bus connection to Lourdes is good and there is a shuttle bus to Pont D'Espagne, the second ski area.

The studio is quite basic, but has most things you need including good oven, 4 ring hob, coffee maker, toaster and kettle. There is no washing machine or microwave and no wifi but many of the bars have wifi and there is a laundrette down the road if needed.

We have stayed in quite a few ski apartments over the years and unfortunately there were a few things that were really disappointing about this one that means we would not return:

1) Undisclosed fees - the owner failed to put in the listing there is an additional 30 Euros non-returnable charge for the keys and agency handling fee payable on arrival
2) He also failed to communicate that a 200 Euro CASH deposit would be payable on arrival. We had to depart early in the morning to catch our flight which meant we did not get the cash back, but instead received a credit on our bank card - quite annoying when you have paid to change your GBP into Euros
3) The studio was generally a bit dirty and down at heel - e.g. there was a pool of grease in the gill pan and at the bottom of the oven, there was no light bulb in the bedside lamp (not a major issue, but the flat is quite dark as there is only one ceiling light), there was no bottle opener - again not a major issue, but is annoying to have to go and buy basic items and the floors were quite dusty and dirty in places.
4) we were disturbed (without pre-warning) by people coming to look around the place (potential buyers).

It is cheap and does the job, but I have stayed in a lot better places for the same price, where the owners have taken more care and invested more to make it cosy and welcoming for their guests.

Cleanliness of studio does rely on guests themselves leaving it in good shape, agent is responsible for checking this and I understand they did order a clean for you. Agent fee is now included in the rate so there is no further charge to pay.

“Very nice small studio in the heart of a lovely village”

Small studio located really in the heart of the village. Second floor with small lift, close to everything restaurants, supermarkets, ski rentals, telecabins to the ski resort. You can park in front of the building to unload and go park a bit further for the tay. In high seaspn it gets difficult to find a parking. The village is awesome with plenty of activity all walking distance, however you hear nothing in the studio. The studio was perfect for the cost. It is small with 2 double beds (1 is a sofa bed), small kitchen and utensils for 3-4. Small bathroom. All a bit oldish but ok for the stay. No wifi. The owner is very nice and helpful with plenty of tips of the village and deals around. I recommend it for friends and a small family.

Thanks for staying, even if the focus seems to be on the size of the place!! It's a 21m2 studio and has high ceilings so actually feels roomy for its size...kind regards, Rich
