Menara Kudus Mosque (or Al-Aqsa Mosque) is one of the oldest mosques in Indonesia, located in Kudus in Central Java, Indonesia. Built in 15th Century, it's believed to be built by Sunan Kudus, one of the Wali Songo (nine Muslim saints who spread Islam in Java).
Menara Kudus Mosque is one of the historical heritage, as evidence of the spread of Islam in Java. This mosque have unique and high-style architecture design, which is a fusion between Hindu culture and Islamic culture, between Java culture and Arab culture: A mosque with Mogul style and the Tower / Minaret with Hindu temple style.
When I visited here, the tower/minaret of Menara Kudus was being repaired. So I didn't see the full beauty of the minaret, my bad ^^. I did Friday prayer in this Menara Kudus, very pleasant atmosphere there and cool, but the Imam's sermon language was Javanese, I didn't understand it hehehehe :D
Conclusion : It's really nice place for religious trip traveler, and people who loves history, culture, architecture, etc.
