Whilst working in Kudus, our colleagues took us one evening to the Mosque and Menara. Despite the fact that we were with locals, as westerners, we didn't feel welcomed to enter the menara and had to be content looking at the amazing site from the street. We were the only women out in the crowded area and whilst we might have been welcome, we wanted to respect the locals in this special place. Spent our time instead wandering the adjacent street market and bought some trinkets from a kind old lady who was patient with our Indonesian. Still got some amazing photos and couldn't have left Kudus without seeing this.
