“Modern conveniences combined with old world charm”

This apartment, which is very large and very impressive, is housed in a renaissance mansion. Keeping much of the apartment's original charm - marble fireplaces, gorgeous casement windows and beautiful moldings etc. - the owners have tastefully renovated. The kitchen, which is very well equipped, is just wonderful. The bathrooms are also modern and lovely. There is even a laundry room off of the kitchen. The furniture and beds are very comfortable - something which is important when one is tired after a long day of sight seeing. In less than a minute's walk, we were on the main street of Ceret, an absolutely charming town, where the inhabitants are very warm and very welcoming. Staying in G'Day really made our time in Ceret even more enjoyable.

“Fantastic Apartment”
Reviewed 23 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

My husband and I had planned to stay in Ceret for 5 days but luckily for us the apartment was available for another 5 days. We so appreciated all the facets of this apartment and Ceret that we just didn't want to leave.

The apartment is tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. The wifi was excellent and my husband really appreciated the English Channels on the TV. The fact that there was a free phone to call back to home (Australian Land Line) was also a huge benefit.

The access to the main restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, butchers etc of Ceret is only metres away. Whilst we had a vehicle the only time we needed to use it was when we went out of Ceret.

The facilities that the apartment offered were of excellent quality, the fact that we had a washing machine and dryer which connected onto a lovely terrace was a huge added bonus. The terrace was also an excellent place to retreat to whilst having an aperitif.

The two bathrooms were so nice to have, especially when guests came to visit. The dining room was spacious and the kitchen was large and fitted with all the mod cons.

The Saturday markets go right in front of the apartment and if you are here on a Saturday these are a must to go and see. Ceret has a quality museum with lots of interesting art galleries and shops to explore. Ceret is also in such a central location so close to some great quality golf courses and the lovely beaches of Spain.

The view out of the front of the apartment was down the main Street of Ceret whilst the view out the back was spectacular looking out directly onto the mountains.

We stayed at this apartment with friends. Lovely apartment, convenient location - right in the middle of town but with gorgeous views out of the back windows. The terrace is an extra bonus. Highly recommended.

“A perfect balance”
Reviewed 11 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

This apartment combines the very best of old world charm with all modern amenities. We stayed here with our son and his wife and couldn't have been happier. The two large bedrooms with bathrooms functioned as two suites. Kitchen is great (and enormous by French standards). We felt very welcome and thoroughly spoiled by the experience.

Liked least: Only drawback is stairs which is the norm in France.

Thank you for your wonderful review. When you booked the apartment you mentioned that you were using this stay to have a reunion with your son and his wife. We were very confident that our apartment and the village of Ceret would be perfect for you and we are so happy that you agree.

“Brilliant apartment & perfect location”

I can not praise the apartment more highly. My wife and 83 yo mother-in-law stayed during early October for a week. The apartment is huge and has been very tastefully renovated - separate kitchen with everything that opens and shuts, inculding dishwasher, microwave - and all the kitchen implements you can think of; separate large dining room; spearate lounge room with TV, cable (Sky and French), DVD & CD player - very comfortable lounge suite; hallway with free WIFI modem and free phone calls to land lines in France and Australia (this was really appreciated with an 87 yo mother at home); 2 enormous bedrooms, each with ensuites and king size beds (very welcome after the double beds we had been sleeping in!). The apartment also has a separate laundry with washing machine and dryer, opening onto a balcony at the front of building.

Very large opening windows from kitchen, dining and lounge rooms afforded beautiful views to the hills behind, and windows/shutters from bedrooms opened via baclonies on to the street below. Plenty of light and ventilation was possible.

Sally (property manager) met us with the keys and instructions upon arrival - she was extremely friendly and very helpful (from England) - a welcome pack of wine, butter, cheese, pate, baguette, salted peanuts and crackers was really 'welcome' beleive me, after the long 6 hour car trip to get to Ceret.

Ceret is a beautiful city with plenty of bars, restaurants - 2 supermarkets close by, 3-4 boulangeries/patisseries, 3 boucheries (butchers) and ATMs - everything you require. The Saturday market is not to be missed - it all happens right below the apartment on the street and throughout the town.

Parking is free if you are fortunate to snag a park 100m from the apartment - if not, there are an additional 2 large free car parks a further 100m away. It is very easy to drop off and load up luggage from in front of the apartment building before moving your car.

The only drawback with the apartment is that it does not have a lift and you go up to the 3rd floor. It is no problem - if you have an 80+ mother-in-law, you simply make she she has everything she needs before heading out for the day! Really, it wasn't an issue - but just something to be aware of. The apartment is in an original building (1800s?), so a lift is just not in keeping with the style and building of the time and would be nigh on impossible to install.

All the sights are very close at hand - Carcassone, Cathar castles, hill villages by the score - loved Villefranche-de-Conflent, the Mediterranean - check out Colliure (France) and Cadaque and Llafranc on Costa Brava (Spain). The Spanish border is only 8 kms away, with Barcelona a couple of hours - La Jonquera is a 'frontier' town on the border with ridiculously low prices for alcohol, perfume etc + a host of great supermarkets and designer clothing/shoe factory outlets if you are so inclined! Well worth checking out.

Would not hesitate to highly recommend G'day Ceret for a stay in SW France - we will definitely be going back sometime in the future.
