This church was built for the inhabitants of Fougères. There was a chapel in the 'chateau' but of course this was not for the common people. There is a very nice feeling in this church like you sense the people then put love into building it. Lots of nice details too!

Many French churches feel rather cold and abandoned, especially when they are on a vast scale. Saint-Sulpice is not like that. It still feels like a living place of prayer. The stained glass windows are absolutely enormous but are relatively modern and therefore easy to understand. The tabernacle and altar stand out as being of exceptionally high quality. The church is just across the road from the impressive chateau. It's a very tranquil corner of town and it's quite easy to park just outside the church.

Just beside the castle is this pretty little church ( little being a relative word in French church terms!) . There is much to admire in the interior detail and the stained glass.

Close to the old quarter and just opposite the Chateau de Fougeres. The Eglise Saint-Sulpice de Fougeres was started in 1380 but not finished until 1760. Not on the large scale of many of the French churches I have visited but well worth the visit just to admire the detail of the knave and stalls.
