we had not been to france for several years, and having left it rather late to book, could not get the accomodation that we were looking for.It was while looking around for places in Benodet, that we
spotted Dan and Maureen's website. What a lucky break for us as they could not have been more helpful and friendly,by phoning us back after the initial contact and keeping in touch, should we have any other queries. After a hot journey from the port we arrived to a glass of wine and a lovely welcome. The accomodation was immaculate and we were so lucky with the weather,we had two great weeks, and it was good to know that all we had to do was text to Dan and he would be there. Thanks to Dan and Maureen for helping to make it one of our best holidays. We will be back.Mike and Marina.Torquay
Just got back after a lady minute week long holiday with Jantom Holidays in the Yelloh Village Port Au Plaisance. Dan and Maureen were wonderful and have us some great advice on the local area, things to do etc and our children loved them! We stayed in a 2 bedroom static with barbecue and decking. Campsite restaurant and bar is very good, but quite expensive...pizzas gorgeous especially the Mexican one. Good indoor pool if weather is not so good and lots to do on site...horse rides, tennis, high ropes etc. Brilliant foam party mid week which the kids loved. Close to Quimper and Concarneau which are both lovely places to visit for the day.
We booked for a week stay in August after a Disneyland trip. We were looking forward to a calm stay following the madness of Disney.
We were welcomed by the delightful Dan & Maureen of Jantom holidays. They were very personable and were always on hand to ensure that we had a pleasant holiday throughout. I would highly recommend booking with them for your stay at this Yelloh village.
This camping site at Benodet truly is 5* and there is so much to do. Our children managed to spend hours in the swimming pool, did rock climbing, trampolining, acrobat treetop course, kids club, go karting and more. The pool and the slides are really lovely.
The food in the restaurant was very nice and we enjoyed a couple of very tasty meals there.
Lots of entertainment for those that want it ... but never overly done so that even those that don't enjoy that kind of thing feel they have to be involved.
Make sure you do the walk along the river into Benodet, really pretty walk and round trip takes about an hour with the option to stop for a drink, ice cream or crepe on the way!
We've stayed in many areas in France over the years and lots of different types of accommodation from chateaus, chain hotels, to gites, chambre d'hotes and camps. This is one of the best areas, campsites and holiday letting agencies that we have ever stayed with! We stayed in this area last year & spotted the camp as we passed & took our 8 year old niece on its treetop zip-wire course. We checked out its website once home & decided to book for this year, we happened upon Jantom Holidays in the info & and reviews.
We booked with Jantom and got a REALLY good price comparing them to the likes of Keycamp , Eurocamp etc. They were friendly and efficient and helpful without being intrusive. They also have some of the best pitches on the site in my opinion, we had a large pitch at the back of the site facing the ponies on the field and we were furthest away from the bar /club which always inevitably has disco/music in the evening on all sites. We had lots of room, a really sunny spot and some land/tree screening. we were next to a camp 'road' - used as a thoroughfare for others to get to their pitches but people passed infrequently, drove slowly and we enjoyed saying 'bonjour' to passers by and playing guess the nationality :)
The mobile was very clean and everything operated as it should(not always the case with Keycamp etc) and the beds were comfy, there was a pack with info re the site, places to visit, walks, good restaurants, supermarkets, petrol etc and it was comforting to be given their personal mobile should we need them. They were visible around camp and always accessible. They also let us stay until whatever time we wished on our last day as no-one else was arriving in our mobile that day. It was lovely not having to rush out at 10am.
Benodet and the surrounding areas are breathtakingly beautiful, unspoilt and not too touristy.
We would recommend visiting Concarneau, Quimper, St Marine, beg Meil, and Cap Coz and you are spolit for beaches.
The main beach in Benodet is just lovely, it's about a 10 minute stroll ( although we mostly drove there) and has a Mickey Mouse kids' club - trampolines etc. You can hire stand up paddles, boards, kayaks and so on. It was gorgeous swimming here during the day to cool off - we were lucky enough to have nearly three weeks of red hot weather. The water is lovely and clear too. The next beach to the left is Point St Giles, full of rocks and mussels, take a net - great for kids, and slightly further to the left is Letty beach - my personal favourite. Go from around 2 pm as the tide is out & there are many huge pools, lovely and warm and big enough to swim in, filled with crabs, starfish of differing sizes , fish and other fascinating marine life, stride across them to the dunes and over to the beach front proper and there is the most beautiful sandy beach & clear sea. Lots of boats and surfers/windsurfers. I watched a swimmer catch a 2 foot long fish and gut it at the water's edge! When the tide is in, in the evening go back and swim to 'the island' a strip of long dune that separates the two sandy shores. I was in there at 11pm and it was still warm enough as it was a red hot day.
There are many many beaches, also great were Cap Coz, Kermoor beach and Mousterlin.
The camp was really good - friendly staff, a HOT indoor pool, with slides, bubbles, jacuzzi, palm trees etc and a nice warm outdoor pool and a couple more slides and baby/toddler area.
The reviews about the pool were one of our reasons for booking as our niece is really 'mardy' when it comes to cold water but loves swimming but it really was nice and hot.
The zipwires are fab, ( 10 euros) with 3 courses -1for little ones, 1 from age 8 and one for 12 plus, (suitable for adults - my sister did it and was knackered at the end!) they even did it near to midnight with helmets with lamps on and they slid along wires over the lengtht of the pool. Ponies were on site, bikes and karts were available for hire, seating from 1 to 4 people and it was all 5 euros per session. They had a little office where you could borrow scrabble, books in various languages and could book local boat trips, they were very friendly and clearly fluent in several languages. the bar areas were nice - next to pool and you could dine inside and out - cocktails and bar food were available and the restaurant really was good and competitively priced(not always the case on campsites), we ate there twice and weren't disappointed.
We didn't use the kids' club as our niece made some friends an they spent the whole time in the pool, playing ping-pong, air hockey and dancing.
The shop stocked bread, croissants, groceries, swimming aids, toys, suncreams souvenirs etc.
We didn't really bother with the entertainment in the bar in the evening as we went out to restaurants and ate late in the eveing, followed by ice creams and walks to the beach / nightswimming. We were in there a couple of times and it seemed like standard fare - Breton song night and underground euro disco music, karaoke etc.
There was also a gym and a pampering suite - you could have a massage, reflexology etc should you wish to.
There's a Carrefour supermarket almost next door which has everything you'd need and a petrol station (cheaper than any around) the area.
There's a go - Kart and paintballing place a short drive away for adventurous adults, although the most taxing thing that I did was to walk 307 steps up the lighthouse near Penmar'ch ( I think it was in St Pierre, approx 20 mins away by car) I got some beautiful photos.
recommended places to eat are - Cafe Foutou (all u can eat seafod buffet 25Euros)La Croisette (Port De Plaisance) L'alhambra and Sans Souci (ice cream to die for!)
We had a small bump in our car (followed by a trip to BMW in Quimper for a repair) and an unrelated hospital trip (thank god for the fantastic French healthcare system!) during the holiday and it still didn't spoil our enjoyment - it was such a nice place!
This is the longest piece that I've ever written on Trip advisor! Sorry to wax lyrical but I really can't recommend the place enough! I would definitely return to beautiful Benodet and would book again with Jantom! Thanks for a fab holiday x
Just returned from two weeks fantastic break with JANTOM holidays. My other half and 5 yr old daughter wanted to holiday with my parents and close friends and family and so decided to take them to stay where we have spent the past 5 years on holidays. We contacted the owners(who live on site) and they made the booking process very easy and the best price for outstanding accommodation. We had four cabins and all were very clean and spacious, they were all well equipped and the owners Mo and Dan were always on hand to cater for everyones needs, from advice on days out and places to eat. I would definitely recommend booking with JANTOM
