“What a lovely little place”
Reviewed 25 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

What a great little gite ! The small private site on which this gite stands (La Blanquette B&B) is so peaceful and relaxing which is great if that is what your looking for. Only a 5 minute drive into the beautiful town of Sarlat. Lovely outdoor swimming pool also. We would visit again, no hesitation.

This is one of those times when you want to keep this fantastic place to yourselves but I want other people to have the great experience we did and owe it to the team who run la blanquette. We stayed in le petite gite for a week. We were welcomed by Jason who gave us a tour and told us the essentials about the beautiful site. The gite exceeded our expectations, beautifully decorated and filled with everything you need, the gite is compact but very cosy a lot of thought has obviously gone into it. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and the bread, cheese and wine made the perfect dinner on the veranda on the first night to get into the French spirit, followed but a few games of boule. The grounds of la blanquette are stunning and well kept , the pool is clean and you are able to admire the view over to domme on a clear day., and fairy lights at night make it look magical. The directions from the airport that nicola emailed were easy to follow and we made it to the site without getting lost. We went on two canoe trips expertly organised by nicola and Jason, we opted for a packed lunch on one trip which was a real treat, it's a lovely way to see the area and the river is easy to navigate, nicola and Jason drop you off and collect you further down the river at a set time allowing time to stop for lunch and explore the towns if you want. The nearest town is Sarlat with plenty of gift shops and restaurants, market day is a must but go early. There are plenty of other places to visit close by such as domme, la roque gageac, roccamadour caves or grottes, les jardins du manorial d'eyrignac the list goes on. In the gite was a list of recommended restaurants and the ones we visited were fantastic, the food in the area is superb, expect to put on a few pounds after a week here :)
Nicola, Jason and the rest of the family were very friendly and on hand if you need to ask them anything, we especially loved the pastry run in the morning, I think I could eat those pan au chocolat everyday!
This place is a real gem and we only wished we had booked two weeks, the place is peaceful and relaxing yet close to attractions and great for exploring the area. We cannot fault la blanquette and it's staff, we will certainly recommend it to our friends and definitely aim return

“Bijoux residence, well equipped, comfy bed. Best in good weather”
Reviewed 17 June 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Perfect in good weather, this little cabin was well equipped. Nice bathroom & shower. It even had an electric kettle and teapot sometimes missing in French accommodation. The BBQ looked inviting but due to bad weather we didnt get a chance to try that out nor the inviting looking pool. Set in lovely grounds, we saw a woodpecker feeding its family in a hole in the tree in the woods. A lot of thought has obviously gone into the conservation of local flora & fauna. Lots to see in the area which we did. Visit to Lascaux II was memorable.
