“Very enjoyable stay”
Reviewed 27 April 2013 for a stay in June 2012

Lots of good things to say.
Mimosa is a lovely gite. Spacious, well fitted out with furniture. Nice bathroom.
Great value when we went in June but based on our experience we would never go in high season when it costs approx double what we paid. We would go again in June or Sept.

Brantome is a fabulous town close by with great market, lovely cafes, lovely boat ride etc etc.

Really nice sml complex and opp to get to know your neighbours if you'd like to. We often bumped into people at various sites (we were all young families so funnily enough were visiting similar places) which was nice and we even had dinner with our lovely neighbours one evening as our adjoining patios meant we could all be close enough to door to hear if child crying etc.

Some lovely villages and lake swimming within 30mins. Beautiful scenery.
Our normal day (with our almost 3 yr old and a pregnant me) was an outing in the morning to a lake for swimming or a village etc, lunch out and return early-mid afternoon for some playing/relaxing/swimming on site and dinner at home (nice BBQ as well as kitchen inside).

Lovely pool (though not heated so despite 30deg air temp was slightly cool in water and often too cool for our son and other sml children to stay in there for long) and some fun outdoor toys/playground equipment.

Main gripes (that were an issue and we took up with Helen) - there was NOTHING in the gite in terms of 'starter pack'. Normally (in our fairly extensive experience of renting French cottages) you get a couple of dishwasher tablets, some Fairy liquid, washing up brush, paper towel, maybe some cling film (you get the idea) - anyway there was NOTHING which was annoying bc these are the things I bring from home rather than having to buy full bottles/containers of things.
Second issue is that the quality and volume of kitchen wear was 2 out of 5. Cheap and nasty stuff that doesn't suit the general quality of gite and complex. Our neighbours even broke a couple of forks etc b/c they were so cheap and nasty.
Last primary issue is that the bedrooms upstairs were HOT at night and we could only get 1 fan from reception so our son got it and we had to open the windows which sounds fine but that meant light was flooding in very early in the morning (we were there right around the solstice). I know others also found this hard.

“Lovely gites in Brantome”
Reviewed 29 June 2012 for a stay in June 2012

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in the small complex of gites called Domaine de La Rosaraie this June.We stayed in a two bedroom gite called Tulipier which was immaculately presented, light airy and spacious. We had a lovely little terrace and garden affording both sun and shade. There were sunloungers and a BBQ provided. The bar and restaurant were very comfortable and the food tasty. Wifi was available at reception. The pool was very clean if a little chilly as it's not heated! Our stay was made even better by Helen Walsh the manageress, whose friendly and helpful service is second to none.
The lovely town of Brantome is a ten minute walk away and has many great cafes and restaurants. We would have no hesitation in recommending Domaine as a holiday destination.
