“Quirky”
Reviewed 13 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We stayed in the 2nd floor family apartment. On the outskirts of Munster it was perfectly placed for exploring the wine route and for getting hold of all the essentials for a self catering stay (a Super U within 5 minutes). It was also peaceful with good views of Munster. We were not so keen on the furnishing of the apartment, dated but not in a good way and certainly less comfortable than home. The double bed was firm with a thin mattress, the main living area was a kitchen dwarved by a kitchen table and chairs. There was a settee in the kitchen but it was uncomfortable as were the chairs for the table. The balcony is directly off this room and is lovely in the morning but in the heat of the day, it has no shade so may be a problem for people who cannot tolerate direct sun. If, when reading the details of the apartment, you notice there is no mention of bathroom, this is because there isn't one. To access the toilet you use a swing door which hangs about 30 cm from the floor - this is the modesty door for the shower which lies between the swing door and the toilet door and is immediately opposite the living area - it really is a bit odd. The toilet is beyond another door but has no basin so you have to use one of the basins in the bedrooms - not ideal for hygiene. The kitchen area had plenty of pans, plates and coffee makers but was less forthcoming on kitchen utensils and the means to make a family meal. Ok for 2 but I wouldn't have wanted to cook for the 4 people which could use this apartment. All of it felt a little outdated and rundown.

Outside, you have the opportunity of using the barbecue beside the lake but we didn't - it's a bit of a walk down to the lake and the garden furniture needed a good clean.

The family staying below us barbecued on one night - their outside area was bigger and had a barbecue but it was directly below our balcony, it meant we got the smoke from the barbecue and the family noise. Just something to consider if you are looking for complete privacy

Gabrielle and Yoli are welcoming and helpful and we did enjoy our stay but it was not the most comfortable holiday I have had and it certainly cannot be described as luxury. If you enjoy quirky and a well placed apartment then this is the place is for you - if you like a comfortable settee to relax into at the end of the day, perhaps not.

We are glad you enjoyed the views and the location of our Maison Bellevue in Munster. As for the style of our family apartment on the second floor, we choose to give it a 50/60's decor and our guests love the quirky style. Naturally we expect them to speak to us about any issues they might have, so we are sorry you did not ask us about the umbrella as it was next to the fridge. As a holiday rental we are always more than happy to help our guests enjoy their stay.

This accommodation was a little tired but it was also inexpensive and the host was helpful with her advice. We found numerous things to do in the area but I would recommend you have a car. Not being a huge tourist town, there were not that many people who spoke English but I liked this because it forced me to practice my French.

“Beautiful landscape in a charming and historic region”
Reviewed 28 January 2015 for a stay in May 2014

We had a memorable 4 day stay in this delightful boutique apartment which had all the amentities we needed. Close to town but with a rural feel and lots of easy walks to neighbouring villages. The hosts are French and Australian and were very helpful in suggesting day excursions and places to find good local produce. We had a car so could explore the local WW1 sites and visited the nearby Alberrt Schwietzer house and museum in the village of Kayserberg.

This rental home is a genuine home from home, with a host that is highly responsive and considerate to the needs of an extended families visit.

Warm, quiet and with fine views of the town of Munster, I would recommend this rental home to anyone who looks for that little bit more...

Thank you for your review , it makes our job worthwhile . Keen traveller ourselves we always appreciate to come back to our quiet and beautiful Munster valley and are happy to share it with people that see the qualities of the great location of our family home. My grand mother purchased it in 1929 because of the brat views and because it was the last home before the forest and still you can do all your daily shopping by foot. We also love the closeness to the 2 trains stops. Hope you can visit us again soon.
