Craig run a sheep station here and he gave us a very interesting show. We watched as the dogs herded the sheep, and we watch him shear one. Then he explained what characteristics make some wool better than others within and between sheep. It was quite educational. After the demonstrations we were served a well-prepared steak lunch with the trimmings.

On arrival at Gold Creek Station, we were warmly welcomed by the Starr family. Our host Craig first took us to some shade, beceause of the heat that day and from there we could visit a demonstration of the dogs work the Merino sheep and even could even interact to calm a sheep.

After that we saw a nice sheep shearing demonstration and heard all kind of facts about the wool.

We ended our visit with a great barbecue lunch (taken care of by Craig's son Hayden) with steak, sausage, salade and some wine and beer for drinks.

Special thanks for the great hospitality!

This was a chance to get amongst the sheep, hear and experience the world of the sheep farmer and find out much more than you would have thought to ask about in terms of sheep, wool and the challenges of farm life. Finished off with a very tasty barby meal.

Our party was welcomed by the farmer who got on our coach to introduce himself. We watched as his dogs rounded up the sheep, the sheep were then penned and he managed to separate a sheep from the flock. He then demonstrated how to handle a sheep and calm the sheep and invited one of our party to have a go at doing the same. We then proceeded to the shearing shed where the hard working dog was given a rest. A sheep was then sheared and the fleece placed on the table afterwards for the party to feel the quality of the wool.
A two course meal then followed consisting of steak, sausage and salad with wine followed by
apple pie and custard.
