Hotel nicely located outside of Tropea, with ca. 15 min to walk to the historic center.
We had 2 very unfriendly ladies on the reception on arrival & departure. No smile or verbal welcome after a long trip. Our check-in was also permanently interrupted by phone calls, so it took quite long. Hotel is much too expensive for what it is. These ladies told us that we normally would only get a room facing the back road, unless we book directly through the hotel web page. So I suggest you avoid these hotel platforms and book direct, or you will get a room to the back side. Hotel has a nice, large pool, breakfast was good. The beach is very nice. There is an elevator going almost all the way down to the beach, but you do have to walk quite a few steps as well. Room size was OK, bathroom OK (one sink & bath tub) but room was not clean and in quality of furniture and in general not adequate for the price! There is entertainment in the evening, but we were there for 2 nights only and went out into the really nice, old city of Tropea. WLAN included in price, TV in room has some international channels like CNN. WLAN was free of charge and works well. Parking outside the hotel, no charge, but seems to be quite safe.

Room Tip: Ask for room with Sea view.

Beautiful surroundings and a very pleasant stay. Very kind and professional staff. Thanks to Giovanni for his genuine welcoming and also to Vincent, absolutely fantastic with the kids, who hope to see him again.

GOOD:
+ Area around Tropea is in general beautiful
+ View of Stromboli volcano at sunset
+ Crystal water if there are no waves
+ Animation Team was very friendly and polite, not too pushy
+ Wifi was good
+ A lot of sunshine in August ;-)

CON:
- Reception service and welcoming attitude
- Food: big disappointment, considering choice and quality of execution. This is Southern Italy, the hotel is a bit old, you could bring it home with great food, but we've been disappointed. Execution of pasta dishes only average, choice and execution of deserts was poor, children options poor, choice and quality of antipasti average to poor, meat/fish ambiente and choice poor, didnt even try during the entire week. Ice cream: they call it homemade, but that doesnt mean it's good. It was very poor, just some powder blended with something and frozen ...
- Drinks: choice OK, housewine pretty OK, considering its an AI housewine. Sodas and water good, juices a desaster. Coffee - it depends a lot on where you had it, some bars very good (again, this is what you expect in Italy), the machines in the breakfast restaurant - desaster
- Ambiente of restaurants: Main resto = cantina. Far too many tables, far too crowded. Beach resto = lovely view, but too many tables, too crowded. Food choice and execution average towards poor. Exception: ovencooked Pizza, but too crowded, too long waiting line and not done with passion in terms of ambiente, prep and ingredients. Beach bar = OK, nice waiters
Miscelleaneous:
- Rooms: very basic, but we expected less.
- Beds: worse than in prison. Usually I sleep great all year, but those bunks ...
- Minibar: it comes with 4 mini water bottles and you have to refill themselves
- Beachtowels: you have to use them for 2 days, can you believe this!?
- Animation/staff: very friendly, polite and no too pushy
- Pool/beach supervisor: very arrogant and unfriendly
- Pool sun beds are limited and people just reserve and dont show up ...
- Staff at bars/restaurants: ... OK, they have a tough job to do
- Area around hotel: lovely Tropea is a 20min walk and well worth it

Overall, with a lot of positive attitude, I rated 3 out 5 points, I mean you don't expect the RitzCarlton or Jumeirah when you book it, but our learning is with 2 small kids (5/7) during main main holiday season, we either toss in another 2.000 bucks and go for gold next time again or just stay at home ...

Room Tip: Insist on sea view!

This Hotel is not for anybody who is not German. They only cater for them Germans.
The Germans guests are rude and loud!
The food is just crap, plenty of it, but its rubbish, I would rather have less choice and better quality than what is offered.
The Hotel grounds are not well maintained, the air conditioning in the rooms is so loud that its impossible to sleep.
This Hotel is rated 4 stars, that is a not funny joke, 2 stars the food is 1 star.

mass tourism: I was given a small and dark room: it was so dark I had to turn on the light during the day - basic furniture, no flair whatsoever; the food was cheap with few fresh fruits (apples, pears and oranges), the fruit salad came from the jar...no brands, not even Nutella but NutKao... did not even deserve 3 stars. Every day from 9:30 to 11pm they had animation going on... annoying, as it was the same every day suited for people who could not entertain themselves or were not willing to venture outside this "resort".
