Ok, we went with the entire Italian family for the August 15th lunch which is a big holiday in Italy so the restaurant was completely full. We had to ask and insist to be served faster and still waited 1h30 between each dish. By the end of the meal, half of us had left and we skipped desert which is really a pity for a fixed menu. So even for Italian standards this was way too slow. The food and the view were nice but we didn't enjoy our experience so if you want to give it a try make sure it is not too full...

We were two, on a pretty windy evening. Fortunately the restaurant has good cover, since it is beside the seaside (waves can splash the nearest tables), and we were neither cold nor blown away.

The restaurant was quiet when we arrived at 8, but plenty of people rolled in later, mainly families. 'Family restaurant' where we come from is usually a living hell. Dal Moro was quite different, the children being well-behaved and enjoying the food they were given.

We wanted a simple, well-cooked meal and good service, both of which appeared. Herself had a fish starter and spaghetti vongole (no mussels please) and I tasty carpaccio of beef and spag vol. again (lots of mussels please). They obliged. I tried the house white, 3 euros for half a litre, and it tasted exactly like wine at 3 euros for half a litre. Go a bit upmarket: all the wines are reasonably priced. Coffee, water, etc. brought the bill to a non-wallet-busting 41 Euros for 2 people. The service was fine.

I've given Dal Moro an 'average' rating, but this should be read more as 'typical for a country with high standards of food and service'. If we had been in the UK there would certainly been one more blob.

Recommended for a family meal if you are in the locality.

We missed the sunset which you shouldn't because of the beautiful terrace they have.

It is not a stylish or modern place, but one that makes you feel comfortable being there.

The mussels (entree) were very good so was the sea bass (al sale).

Service was nice. They were very helpful with our children.

The title says it all. Sitting a couple of cm's from the waves, seeing a beautiful sunset, great seafood and a nice bottle of wine. What could one expect more? Oh yes, I forgot to mention the friendly service and the more then friendly prices. A must visit when you are in Torre Canne
