We have eaten at this restaurant several times (see my earlier review) but last Friday was the first time we had their special seafood menu (Friday's only).
Good fish in landlocked Umbria is a real rarity, so we we a bit apprehensive, but it was superb. The menu was:
Cold antipasto: marinated salmon, fresh anchovies, seafood salad
Hot antipasto: stewed octopus, mussels, small whelks (or some such) in garlic and tomato sauce
Troffie with vongole, tomato and rocket
Green tagliatelle with lobster
Fritto misto (prawns and calamari)
All this was 35 Euros each; we were too full to manage a dessert.
We was he sit down with an unusual but beautifully made local Viognier.
We really can't recommend this restaurant enough.

All was very impressive! Tuna and pasta nero both amazing. Will try to get back here! The staff did speak very good English. Bit harder to find. It is that i knew It must be there somewhere - as it is hidden on top of some steps. So in a double way hidden gem..

A great experience must not miss if you are in the Todi area (Ilci is a very small town 3 km from the Fratta Todina exit of E45). We discovered Novecento thanks to a couple of friends who visited them earlier. This small restaurant has just a few tables (so you better call and book yours if you go in high season or during the week end), and they serve local (awesome) cuisine. They have a fireplace right in the eating area, and if you are lucky enough (like we were) you can sit at the table right besides the grill (too hot for me, but my wife enjoyed it a lot!). We had a bruschette mix (a must for me when I am in Central Italy :) ) and a grilled cheese as appetizers, and guinea-fowl breast as main course. Unfortunately it was cold and rainy outside, so we couldn't enjoy their terrace. We'll have more luck next time :)

We have eaten at this osteria a number of times since it opened, always with good results. Last weekend, with another couple, the evening went poorly. Service out of the kitchen was very slow; an appetizer of red onion with ricotta was not fully cooked and flavours were in conflict, a portion of lamb may have had only slightly more meat than fat; a tagliata was of miniscule size and looked more like a salad than meat dish.

A revised wine list with higher prices and in my view, unbalanced selections, yielded a red wine that was extremely rough on the palate. The menu has also moved up in its prices.

Perhaps the normal cook was not in the kitchen that night. In any event it will be some time before we regain the courage re-enter Osteria Novecento. Dinner for 4, each with appetizer and secondo, no dessert, came to €130, including wine.

4 friends from the UK visited this restaurant on a Monday evening. We had a delightful time. The choices on the menu were interesting & we were impressed by the quality of the dishes, the presentation and the service. We will be back!
