This hotel was recommended by our tour operator and our expectations were not only met, but were exceeded! It is located at the top of a big hill/small mountain overlooking the sea and the wonderful town of Sestri Levante, conveniently located half way between Portofino and Cinque Terra. The highly rated hotel restaurant was where we enjoyed our first night's dinner and was fantastic - we actually asked for several items not on the menu and the staff was happy to prepare them for us, simply delicious! The views from the restaurant are breathtaking. We stayed in a junior suite which was quite large and decorated in the "castle" theme. While we elected to walk up and down the steep hill to access the village (great exercise), one can use the elevator that takes one down to the sea level. The front desk staff was very friendly, especially Stephanie. In summary, we loved the hotel and highly recommend it!

Room tip: Request a room with a view of the sea - the junior suites are amazing!

We trekked up a long, steep hill with our luggage only to learn when we reached the registration desk that 1) an elevator was available from street level and 2) a car would have come get us at the train station upon request. Unfortunately, we did not learn of this in advance. Further, the elevator kept going in and out of operation during our stay, such that it was at time unavailable. The view is spectacular, but ensure the elevator (and the pool) are in working order before you choose to stay here. Otherwise, the trek up and down the hill could prove inconvenient. Breakfast was very good and service -- especially in the restaurant -- quite attentive.

Room tip: Rooms in original building have more character. Rooms in newer building are closer to dining room and street-level elevator.

The room was large and the bed comfortable.the airline lost our luggage but the hotel could not even supply a toothbrush.three days later our luggage arrived and we were able to enjoy our nieces beautiful wedding at this hotel.the hotel made the wedding a perfect day... .our special thanks to Maria who did her up most to locate our lost bag.all the staff were so very helpful.the hotel even arranged a hair appointment for me and drove me to and from the appointment.not for anyone with mobility problems.

We had a wonderful stay in this absolutely amazing hotel.
The staff were warm and friendly and made you feel so welcome. If you needed directions not only did they give these, but went out of their way, to take you outside and show you exactly where you should be going.
Our room was a good size and furnishings were lovely.
Breakfast was good. . We had breakfast in the restsurant with beautiful views of the water and boats below.
There is nothing bad we could say about this hotel. They have taken into consideration the 'hill' on which this beautiful hotel is situated and provided a lift through this to the street level.
The gardens are really lovely and the view from our room was something we will always remember.
We were sad to leave and would return in a blink of an eye.
This was the 43rd hotel we had stayed in on this trip and it would certainly take some beating. It was the best!

Room tip: Any room in this hotel would be perfect!

We enjoyed our stay in this castle-come-hotel, and the views from any angle are spectacular. But, as a four-star, it doesn't measure up for a top rating. Rooms were sparse but clean, and the bathroom had been renovated. Certainly very clean. If you 'take the plunge' on price, be sure to visit the swim club, and take the walk around the point. Spectacular views.

Room tip: Ask for a room in the new wing
