We went to this hotel last year and liked it enough to come back again in 2018 for 2 weeks. Once again the hotel's front appearance was impressive but sadly the rooms and communal areas [outside] were a tad shabby and needed a good clean and a coat of paint. The staff in all areas were faultless and could not do enough for you but the visit was let down by the food which was of poor quality, badly cooked [lacking seasoning and taste] and only luke warm when it should have been hot.
There was much discussion about this with other guests. We made sure to go out most lunchtimes into Sorrento and found many lovely restaurants serving hot and tasty food.
Due to the issues with the food we would rate the hotel 3 star rather than 4 star or the
5 star they give themselves.

Room Tip: Best rooms are overlooking the pool and best views on 4th & 5th floors

I stayed at the La Pace in the last week of May with my husband and two daughters and we had a fabulous time we arrived at La Pace mid to late afternoon and were really impressed with the entrance, lobby area and reception staff. Our check in was very quick and we were in our rooms in no time - having first been served a glass of prosecco, which was well deserved (in my opinion) following our journey from London!

The room was lovely and spacious, the bathroom a bit more compact but overall very clean and had everything you needed including bath robes. Tiled floors throughout the bedroom and bathroom. Our air conditioning worked great and shower was good - i only mention this as other reviews have complained about both, our daughters rooms were the same as ours and everything worked well. there is a safe, hairdryer and TV in each room. They also provide two large bottles of water everyday if you need it.

The pool area is on the second floor of the hotel, but as the hotel is quite high up you do get a great view of the surrounding area and the bay beneath. As it was late may, even though the weather was good, in the main the pool felt too cold to really stay in. We dipped our feet in and it was lovely to just sit around the pool. I really liked the fact that the pool area was such a peaceful place to sit, this is not a loud music and animation team type of place (thankfully). One area i think they can improve on is to have more umbrellas around the pool - plenty of beds for the number of guests but i think umbrellas seemed a bit shorter in supply.

As others have said you can get a toasted sandwich by the pool area if you have missed lunch and cant wait for dinner but not much else. To be honest if you do have breakfast, lunch and dinner in the hotel you certainly wont need any snacks.

In relation to breakfast there is always a selection of bread, croissants, brioche, cheese, sliced meats as well some hot food (eggs, bacon, mushrooms etc), and if that is not enough there are cereals, yoghurt and fruit to select.

For lunch there was selection of starters, pastas and mains as well desserts and ice cream. We always found a good selection for us and liked the buffet style - we don't eat pork and I was impressed at the veggie options and fish selection.

I would say the nicest dinner was on the buffet they do on Monday night with local music and dancing as well. Other nights there was always a good veggie selection of anti pasta, then veg/fish/meat pastas or soup to choose from, followed by 5 different mains and then finally dessert. My daughters asked for some different starters a couple of times as they didn't like some of the fish selection or meat options and the hotel were always happy to oblige. Overall if I was rating this hotel on food alone I would probably dock a point off the rating as sometimes the mains were a bit disappointing but we ate plenty and really you couldn't go hungry here.

The staff here, as others have said, were all really lovely, hard working and attentive. If I could give this hotel more than 5 out of 5 it would be for the staff. From reception who were always willing to help and provide tips, cleaning staff who do an amazing job keeping the place pristine, bar staff and waiting staff who all work really hard and make your stay enjoyable. A special thank you to Massimo and all of his team for taking care of us, but especially for his DJ skills!!

We also walked into and around Sant'Angello and Sorrento a few times. Sorrento is probably a 30 min walk there and some of the road is a bit tricky (either no pavement or very narrow pavement) and on the way back the last 10 mins is uphill so a bit tougher - but I have had heart surgery twice and still managed it so for others it might be a bit easier. Sorrento is certainly worth a visit or two and they have some lovely cobbled lanes to walk around with usual touristic fair - some fabulous Gelato and pizza if you are not full enough from the hotel! Other trips we did was into Pompeii (we went by train from Sant'Angelo station a 10 min walk from the hotel) and a boat trip to Capri (we were picked up and dropped off at our hotel).

A lovely week with a bit of rest and relaxation and a bit of sightseeing. Perfect.

Thank you to everyone at La Pace.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool on 4th floors and above probably offer better views.

We stayed at the La Pace for one week during May. On first impressions the hotel reception / foyer look very grand and does impress. We had a room with no view but to be honest doesn't concern us as we only use the room to sleep. The room was clean and tidy with a massive bed, but there are no Tea coffee facilities in the room. There is a fridge with complementary water in it and a safe which is free. Room aircon worked very well. Breakfast was ok with sausage eggs and bacon as well as buffet cereals etc. Lunch was good and the evening meal is waiter service. Make sure you have packed trousers as they don't allow shorts during the evening. Again there is buffet then the waiter will ask for your order for starters and evening meal. Wine is served by the bottle not glass so it can be easy to get a bit tanked up. Food was good and not massive portions which we liked as you can put on a few pounds during your stay. The only gripe about the food is the pool bar only did cheese and ham toasties would of like to have seen a little more variety. The also did a Neapolitan night with Italian style food. The staff were very friendly and always worked hard throughout are stay. There is also a free shuttle bus to and from Sorrento which runs every hour from the hotel. We visited Capri, for the ferry which cost 38 euro return each a guy turned up on the ferry flogging guided tours, he sold us a boat trip around Capri and an Island tour for less than 80 Euro's for the 2 of us. He also got us the cable car tickets to avoid us queuing which cost another 11 euro's each the took us to a cafe for a 3 course meal and a drink for 15 euro's each, he new everyone on the island was true to his word, never left us. We also did almafi coast via the sight seeing bus outside Sorrento station, not expensive but if you hop off twice you get charged another 6 euros per person so check it out first. We also did Herculaneum, best 11 euros on the train from Sorrento and another 11 euros each to get in. In all a very enjoyable holiday

Never been to Italy before so to celebrate my 60th thought it would be great to visit somewhere other than Spain. The hotel is spectacular and themed around the 1920's. Staff are excellent, attentive and polite. The food is of a very high standard and attention to detail is very good. The rooms are adequate. The only problem with this hotel is the lack of entertainment. 5 days out of 7, there is a singer in the bar/lounge. Very basic and lost in the general chit chat. O.K. if that's what you want, just very limited. There is a free bus to Sorrento which is fine, but I prefer to walk and the walk is up to 30 minutes along a very busy road and the diesel and petrol fumes are very strong. There are bars and shops along the way but the main attraction is the centre of Sorrento, a very nice but very busy place. Hundreds of shops and plenty of places to eat and drink.
Sadly, due to its location we will not be returning.

As others have said the reception area of this hotel is stunning but as for the rest of the hotel what a letdown . We was in room 316 when we went in it looked good then we looked out of the window awful piles of wood in a shack ready to fall down ,gas canisters, washing hanging from surrounding buildings weeds overgrown everywhere and all I can describe as a filthy ruff concrete floor with Broken crates on it so hence we didn’t use the French balcony. The breakfast was awful runny cold scrambled eggs , sausages that looked undercooked , diced potatoes that looked like they were warm ups from the night before dinners. The cutlery was something else the spoons were serving spoons so big and very uncomfortable to eat with , glasses and dishes we use in my school kitchen , plates were often dirty ,table cloths at breakfast dirty from the evenings before dinner, I know because I spilt it on there. The toaster was terrible took forever to do and the lead was often in the gangway for someone to trip over also taped up with black electrical tape in my opinion a Health and safety isuee. Mid day food was ok not much choice though and the same deserts and ice cream in a school glass. Afternoon tea what a joke with in 10 minuites the biscuits were gone and not replaced and they were the cheapest biscuits ever. No menus for snacks or drinks anywhere so if like ourselfs not cocktail drinkers we didn’t know what to order and had no idea there was toasted sandwiches until we saw someone else with one . Dirty towels passed over where toasted sandwiches were being made . The towels for round the pool we’re threadbare, the pool was good but where it changed depth you couldn’t see the edge and lots of people hurt there feet on the rough edges ,maybe signs telling people to be aware would be a idea instead of holiday makers having to warn one another about it . The sun beds were a good idea with the visor unfortunately they needed tightening up because they would just fall and hit your head , a very simple job to do with an Allen key . There is a stairway going from the second floor to the first floor that is steep and needs a hand rail . In the room it was a bath with a shower Screan not easy to get into and no rubber mat for the bottom of the bath to stop you slipping and most days nomat for the floor to step onto so we had to use towels . This is ment to be a 5star hotel but the standards are not good enough for 5 stars. The evening entertainment was most evening boring . Daytime activities none existent apart from the gym. This was a holiday we was so looking forward to as it was a treat for my husband as he turned 65 . I am not a one to take to much notice of people’s reviews as we all have different standards but in this case I wish I had looked before I booked and rest assured I will from now on.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the pool
