This seaside town on the Adriatic Coast is fairly uninspiring.
In typical style the private beach areas are set up in a regimented fashion with rows and rows and rows of beach umbrellas and deck chairs all evenly spaced and you’ll be just a couple of feet from your ‘neighbours’.
The sand in these areas is clean and well groomed unlike the sand in the general public areas which contains litter and fag ends.
The colour of the sea is mud brown.
The long promenade is pleasant enough and some of the beachside cafes are quite acceptable.
The Smeraldo apartments are truly excellent. We had a 5th floor apt which was spotless and ultra modern. The apt had a full sea view balcony, well away from the road. We couldn’t fault it or the service at front desk.
Would we go back? The answer is no. Not due to the the Smeraldo suites which must be close to 4.5 stars but because the town was very so so.
