Booked Villa Maria as a last minute family holiday, Was the perfect choice - hotel is set a 5 min walk from the centre of Ravello. All the staff were charming and helpful throughout our stay. We booked a Junior Suite with a garden view - for two adults and two teenagers. Was perfect for the four of us - plenty of space with a large balcony, Although advertised as a garden view versus a sea view it had as a good a view as any in the hotel as you could see the sea and the surrounding valleys. The restaurant is set with amazing views over the valley and towards the sea - couldn't get enough of those views! Other than breakfast we didn't eat in the restaurant but it always seemed busy. We booked direct and parking was included - car park is about a 5 min walk from the hotel at the sister hotel - you have to drive along some very narrow streets to get to it but you get used to it after a couple of goes. The pool is also at the sister hotel but was a nice walk along pedestrian back streets. We had tossed up between Ravello or Positano but in the end didn't regret our decision. Ravello itself was lovely - much quieter and less congested than Amalfi and Positano. From a Covid point of view the hotel's protocols were good - temp check on arrival, masks worn by staff at all times, guests required to wear face coverings around the hotel etc. Would recommend this hotel.

We went to Villa Maria for an evening concert/ Ravello festival. It was truly spectacular! We stayed here 2 nights but I really wish we spent most of our trip at Villa Maria. The property is gorgeous and our room was wonderful. It was huge and we had a private terrace with the most amazing views. It's in a great spot and close to all the shops/restaurants in Ravello.
The villa itself is lovely. Everyone was helpful and friendly as well.

To listen to such beautiful music by such talented people overlooking the sea was an incredible experience and one I won't soon forget!

Upgraded to a comfort room and were pleasantly surprised. Very large bathroom shower, good sized room and beautiful terrace. The restaurant and bar are both very good. The breakfast room is charming with lovely views of the sea.

We stayed here 2 nights but I really wish we spent most of our trip at Villa Maria. The property is gorgeous and our room was wonderful. It was huge (enormous bathroom as well which was a plus) and we had a private terrace with the most amazing views. It's in a great spot and close to all the shops/restaurants in Ravello. You can also easily get to other towns (Atrani, Amalfi, etc) as well. We hiked down the stairs in Ravello to Spiaggia di Castiglione one day and had a great time. It's definitely a work out but well worth it. The staff was very nice and I thought this hotel was a great deal. I would 100% stay here again.

We stayed here for six days at the day of September, and wanted to stay on but it was fully booked. We stayed in the main house, the lovely old villa. Our room (No. 7) was clean, well decorated, spacious and furnished with nice antiques; the bed was most comfortable and the sheets and pillows were top quality. There was a small balcony with a partial view of the sea, but infrequent sun! The bathroom was small but adequate. Everything was good!

We had booked half board and ate dinner in every night; 4 courses with a choice of two. Extremely good value at €25 per person per day. The restaurant is most attractive with a lovely view over the valley. The food was really excellent and varied, particularly the fish, the lamb and the desserts. The service was outstanding; charming, knowledgeable Italian staff, always thinking ahead. (Sadly, when the hotel closes at the end of October, like most of the hotels here, they’ll all be “let go”, and a new team will have to be recruited next April. What a nightmare for staff and management.)

We didn’t have good weather so we didn’t go to the sister hotel’s lovely pool 5 minutes walk down the hill. It wouldn’t have been a problem. And the 10 minute walks up and down from the main piazza were very good for us!

All in all we think this hotel is excellent and is well worth coming back to, and hope to do so. If you want modern characterless expensive glitz don’t come here. This place has real soul!

An added attraction is the Ravello music festival with a wonderful programme of classical music - two or three concerts a week. Look up “Ravello Concert Society” online. The 2020 programme is already out.

The problem with Tripadvisor reviews is that they stay online for YEARS. Most of the adverse reviews are five or more years old, so are irrelevant. If we come again we’ll let the staff settle in and get trained up, and also avoid the holiday season - Ravello gets very crowded - we’ll come in May, June or September.
