The Little Castle of the Moors has the most stunning view from the huge terrace, overlooking the sea and along the coast to Maiori and beyond. The pool, although not huge, is great to cool off in. There are plenty of loungers and outdoor seats provided, plus a huge outdoor umbrella if the sun gets too hot for you!
The bedrooms are all air-conditioned and were perfect for our group of 5. The outdoor shower is the best of the 3 showers. Small adequate bathrooms.
The kitchen is indeed tiny, only one person at a time, but that's all you need as you'll spend little time in there, and the patio table and chairs provide an awesome spot for outdoor dining (barbeque is provided).
The living space is light, open and really comfortable.
Minori is only 5 minutes walk down some steps and there are plenty of dining options there. A reminder that, as in most Italian towns, shops are closed from 1.30pm-4.30ish, but restaurants remain open.
Francescopaolo is an amazing host. He organised the airport pickups, took us grocery shopping when we arrived, sorted the barbeque gas bottle after hours, gave any info requested, sorted rides to Pompei and was generally available for any questions we had. I can't recommend him highly enough as a host. Just simply AWESOME.
This place is amazing and I would totally recommend it to anyone wanting a spectacular view, pool, friendly atmosphere, all in a quieter area than the main tourist spots on the Amalfi Coast. The ferry runs often to most towns along the coast so it doesn't take long to get to those touristy spots if you wish to, and then come home to serenity.
The views from the large terrace are truly breathtaking, and it is perfect for outdoor dining, we spent most of our evenings sitting out with beautiful local produce and wine.
Just a short (if steep, but hey it's Amalfi) from the town centre of Minori, a lovely place with lots of shops and restaurants. There are lots of places to stop and admire the view and catch your breath.
The ferry runs from there and is a really fun way to travel along the coastline.
The lift is very handy to move bags and suitcases.
The kitchen is well equipped and very usable despite being a little small. The coffee machine is fab, but I would take a kettle if want tea,
Our host Francescopaulo could not have been more helpful throughout our stay. He was there to greet us and take us to buy initial supplies.
He was a mine of information about the area and arranged restaurants and drove us around.
I would definitely recommend this property, we had a fantastic holiday, which would not have been the same without Francescopaulo.
The little castle of the Moors is a little paradise where we spent a wonderful time enjoying the Sun until the late aftennoon, looking up and down the amazing coast, and relaxing un the beautiful terrasse with a private access to the mediterranean sea. The house is well equiped and the host was outstanding in his very gentle and very professional assistance in any circumstances. Whatever question we had, he would quickly and objectively gives us the best advices on how to get around, how to overcome the narrow road of the coast, where to dine and how to visit the beautiful places around this amazing part of Italy. After a outstanding week in July we can only recommend this little castle and its marvellous location.
This property is the ground floor of a three story 18th century villa. Park the car on the (new) concrete roof slab and take the original steps or the (quite old but not 18th century) lift down to the accommodation, which is full of character with an art deco feel and sea views from every room.
Eight beds in three rooms (bunks and a double in one, doubles in the others) and three bathrooms. The third bedroom opens directly onto the terrace and has the third bathroom ensuite. This has no shower, but there's a hot poolside shower right outside which we used as the weather was so good.
The terrace is spacious, bathed in sunshine until mid to late afternoon and has an unbelievable view. The pool is great to cool off in, but is quite small. No worries though, rock steps take you from the terrace straight down the the sea (135 of them!)
Almost everything imaginable (a kettle being the surprising exception) was provided by the host including bluetooth speakers, sun tan lotion and even toothpaste.
So the accommodation is excellent, but the location and particularly the setting really are something else....
The property is built into the cliff a five minute walk (or swim) from the little village of Minori and directly below Ravello, which is very beautiful and claims the finest views of the Amalfi coast (although they really are no better than from the terrace of 'The Little Castle'....Every morning you'll step outside, say 'Wow!' and take a variation of the same photograph. you took the day before).
Minori is a pleasant and low key 'resort', with a number of good restaurants ('Giardienello' and 'Sal de Riso' stood out for us).
There are regular boats from Minori to Amalfi, Positano and other spots along the coast so there's no need to risk driving.
The property owner (Francescopaulo) is an absolutely 'top bloke' who couldn't be more hospitable, helpful and generous.
This is the first year he has rented out his home and I reckon it is going to be fully booked forever, so get in quick and pretend you're a movie star for a week!!
