This is a nice hotel in a good location but guests should be aware of the “standard” room. I booked through hotels.com and the standard room stated it had a balcony and did not mention anything else. We had wrongly assumed that given it was Positano (and an expensive hotel) that we would have a view if there was a balcony. As it turns out, the Standard rooms are on the first floor, street level on the Main Street in the town, and the “balcony” (maybe 6 inches wide) is not a true balcony and faces an extremely busy street / a wall. It is very noisy, both with reception on that floor and with the cars passing by, making it very challenging to sleep.
To the hotel’s credit, they did email before to note that the room was 1st floor and without sea view, however it is very easy to miss as it looked like a generic hotels.com email. Additionally, there was no mention of street level or the fact that the balcony is basically just an sliding door or “French balcony” as reception called it. Management did offer to find us a new hotel, but as we were only here for 2 nights it was not worth it. It was our fault for missing the email, but I feel compelled to write this post as I am sure many other people have made the same mistake as the marketing is not clear in my opinion — I noted this to the front desk both during our stay and at departure.
