The villa is well located and generally as described. However the rest of the story is a bit more complicated. Maintenance and cleanliness have room for improvement. We stayed the second week of August when it was hot and muggy. There was three floor fans for the bedrooms which meant if you were anywhere else you had to carry the fan with you-up or down three flights of narrow stairs. The sound of the air conditioners in each of the adjoining villas only intensified the discomfort. One of the fans was not working and was not replaced despite repeated promises. Another was held together with zip ties....
And then there was Maria. She will come by and spend hours trying to sell you home cooked meals and tours-all done by her or one of many relatives. Not the regular mafia, but you get the idea. Lack of positive response to these sales seemed to ensure the non-functioning fan would not be replaced.
Then there is the bathroom in the master suite. The layout is curious and good luck taking a shower without slipping and falling getting out. And you have to squeeze past the shower to get to the toilet.
The story goes on and its a shame, because the villa could be a delight. Basically its getting to that run down stage.

We absolutely loved Positano and Villa Gaia was exactly as shown in the pictures and description. It was very well located just a short walk to restaurants, center of town, and the sea. The views from the three terraces are spectacular. Maria-Delores and Marco were available to offer suggestions on restaurants and things to do. We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip down the Amalfi Coast with Marco and had a meal of a lifetime in a restaurant owned by someone he knows in Cetara, a charming fishing village. We also had a lovely Italian meal prepared in the villa by Maria. From appetizers to dessert, all homemade, including a fresh spinach ravioli and a fruit tiramisu that I will be thinking about for a long time. Although we consider ourselves seasoned travelers and don't usually hire a guide, Marco really gave us an authentic experience of Positano and the Amalfi coast. We are glad that we decided to spend time with him. He fit right in with our family that included 4 kids in their 20's. If you want to contact him before you arrive, you can reach him at email@example.com. Other than some slightly firm beds and confusion about proper recycling practices, Marco, Maria-Delores and Villa Gaia offered everything we needed for a fantastic holiday!
