This restaurant has a superb setting and historic features. But the food disappointed and I ate little. No alternative was offered.

My simple seafood starter was an overworked combination of a few heavy items, eg an enormous mussle with awful stuffing, an average pastry horn with a hint of shrimp inside. I ate morsels from this dish.

The main mussels dish was more disappointing. I did not feel the green lipped mussels were entirely fresh, and the broth was far too salty to be drunk. No alternative was offered when I returned this second dish. Staff seemed oblivious, and were disinterested in whether the food pleased.

One to avoid for food!

Le Bocche is right by the sea, so you can eat a wonderful meal with a great view. Wine and food were good... but if you don't like seafood (me), there is not much else to choose from on the menu. Nice lunch spot!

This restaurant has a stunning location and is quite modern and trendy inside. Most of the restaurants in Portovenere that we visited in the week we stayed had the same local menu of fish and seafood dishes. We liked the pasta with funghi porcini and the whole fish isolana style with potatoes and tomatoes. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and keen that you enjoyed your meal. Good choice of wines.

We had the best fritto mista here! We had not reserved but were given a friendly welcome and the pasta was wonderful too.

What a total delight to find Le Bocche at the end of the waterside walkway right below the ancient church.
Fantastic location right by the water - fabulously fresh fish, chilled rose wine, creamy affogato - was a great escape for lunch whilst being cooled by the water's edge breeze.

Portovenere is a hidden gem but worth the journey, and lunch or dinner at Le Bocche is a great way to relax.

Other reviews mentioned poor service - our experience was far from it, we had two great staff who were smiling, engaging and informative. The owners should continue to do well here.
