Right on the water this place was a great way to enjoy the view while staying away from the rain on a stormy evening. The food was fantastic as well as the service from our waiter Tony. A great experience!

When you happen to be in Ponza, you have to dine at gennarino a mare - the most romantic place on the island - enjoying the beauty of the sea-view from the private patio of the restaurant.
The cuisine of Gennarino a mare is simply fantastic: you can try a lot of Mediterranean specialties based on fresh fish, strictly from the island, only prepared according to the traditions of Ponza! It is impossible to say which dish is the most special, so you should try them all and you’ll definitely won’t regret it!
The staff, courteous and discreet, will cuddle you throughout the dinner.
The restaurant is well known both by local people and tourists, so booking in advance is recommdended.
Gennarino a mare is also a beautiful little hotel with amazing white rooms and blue tiles balcony, it’s all fresh and very well kept despite being directly on the sea. The sound of the waves will cuddle you at night and wake you up in the morning...that’s magic!
Gennarino a mare has a private dock to moor boats just in case you come for lunch or dinner.
You can stay here with all comfort and you will fall in love with Gennarino a mare!

The Restuarant sits in the port and is nice refuge from the sun. The food was excellent especially the grilled red prawns and the shrimp tartare. Tony the waiter who prefers to go by nicceo is fantastic. Incredibly attentive and caring. Made experience great. Ask for him.

The owners have this hotel plus a larger one that serves 80 rooms, but Gennerino is right in town where the activity is. The chef really knows seafood. If you are one of the ultra riche, you will stay in a large villa, but for a three day getaway, Gennerino is wonderful. Be sure to get a seaside bedroom and sleep with the doors open. Breakfasts are ample and pastries always homemade and hot. Get Joe Taxi to take you on a tour of the island to see the beaches, grottoes and views. Joe is the only one on island who speaks English and his knowledge of historical sites is the best. Get some of Joe's brand of island philosophy. I love this hotel. Comfy, accommodating, delicious.
Room tip: Get a seaside view.
