While visiting friends in Mestre, we chose to spend our last night here at Lupo Del Nero. We were a party of 4, three adults and one toddler.
1. Great atmosphere, warm greetings by the staff and relatively quick service. (I am from the US and actually appreciate that the Italians and other European countries treat meals as events to be savored and appreciated where some of my fellow US citizens might get frustrated with what they would characterize as slow service. Not a judgement, just my experience. :) To each, his/her own)
2. They seated us in a spacious booth in the back of the restaurant so the little one could spread out. (Expert move)
3. All of the seafood dishes were very tasty
Appetizer Cicchetti Mista (Mix of seafood and non-seafood items)
My favorites: Crostini with greens and anchovies, fried mozzarella stuffed with fish and the sardine salad (apparently this is a very traditional dish and goodness is it delicious!)
My entree: Fillete de Branzano con Patate y Verdure
The fish was light and flaky and a bit on the salty side but that was fine as it was balanced by the lighter flavors of the vegetables and the potatoes. (I like to create bites incorporating each flavor)
Dessert: Panna Cotta
I am not a lover of sweets but this dessert was a DREAM.
It was as light as a cloud with a dusting of sugar and rivers of blended strawberries surrounding it. Just perfect.
Overall, this was the best meal we had while in the Venice area and a nice send-off for us as we headed to Lake Como.
Last tip: You may want to stick with the seafood dishes. My husband had the ragu and the other kinds of meat on offer and stated that his food was only ok.
