My husband and I were on a mission to see the World Cup match and were very grateful to stumble onto this place. We were on our way to another spot when I noticed that Bar Monetine was showing the game.
This establishment is warmly lit, simply and elegantly decorated and definitely a local gathering spot. While we arrived at 4pm for the game, Mestre locals began pouring in around 5:30/6pm for a Spritz and delicious Venetian Appetizers called Cicchetti which come free with the purchase of a drink for the Italian version of happy hour.
The bar tender was super friendly and was the first person on our trip who kindly allowed my husband to practice his Italian while ordering. (Most people switch directly to English upon hearing his accent which was always little disappointing for him. It was always in the name of good service :) but he was always a bit bummed)
The drinks are well priced and, because the bar was relatively empty at this time, the bar tender lowered the music inside the restaurant and increased the volume of the game! (While we only understood a third of the announcements, listening to the vocal rhythm of the person calling the game always enhances the experience of the match for us.)
We went there twice during our stay and had great experiences both times. If you are staying in or visiting the Mestre area, I would recommend stopping by.
