“Charming house in stunning rural location, plus unexpected access to pool 1km away”
Reviewed 22 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We stayed 8 nights in Casa Turiello in mid August. The house is tucked away on a hillside in the peaceful district of Massa Lubrense near the end of the Sorrento peninsula. The house is charming and is tastefully furnished in traditional country style, with plenty of comfortable seating inside and out, and a well equipped, old-fashioned kitchen with plenty of plates, cutlery etc. The very spacious rear terrace has amazing views over the Bay of Naples especially at sunset. There are insect screens so you can open doors and windows without worrying (though there didn't seem to be any mosquitoes around - apparently it was too hot for them!) and a/c in the sitting room. The garden is lovely, and there are lemon trees and vines in the area around the house.
An unexpected bonus was that we were allowed to use the pool at the nearby Gocce di Capri resort, which also has a small bar/ cafe and restaurant. The nearest beach is around 20 mins drive away along steep hairpin bends. It is small but has kayaks, and boat trips to Capri, Positano etc. There is a small number of foreign tourists; most are Italian. The nearest food shopping is 1km away in a hamlet called Termini. San Agata is a lovely little town around 4km away with a small supermarket, bakery, butcher, fish shop, fresh pasta shop etc.
The owners live in the other part of the house so there was some noise at times during our stay which included the main Italian August holiday, but nothing invasive, and they seemed friendly and helpful without being at all intrusive. The division of the house has been cleverly done so that you can't really see each other. The house letting is managed by the management of the Gocce di Capri resort, who are exceptionally approachable and friendly, and available to deal with any issues and give tourism advice.
One thing to be aware of is the access road to the house which is vertiginous and very narrow in places. It leads down to a handful of houses and we did meet another car on a couple of occasions. You will need a driver with steady nerves and good brakes!

Out of the way in a good way, Casa Turiello is a 3 bdrm apartment within a house.
Amazing private terrace in front and back. Back w incredible view of Capri!
Great hotel down the road that has a pool, restaurant and bar that is part of the deal!
A/C needs some work, but that's coming from an American.
