We visited friends at Opito bay, We were fortunate that they have a boat which was fantastic to view the bay.

On my list of really good beaches. Horrible drive to it on a gravel and winding road and nothing when you get there. No shops, cafes, toilets. No camping.
Just a beach, but what a beach. Loved it.

This is a great beach. What makes it great? It is fairly far from anything so it keeps it uncrowded. The firm golden sand makes it a great place to walk from one end to the other of the horseshoe shaped bay. There are lots of shells all along the beach to pick up.
You can launch your boat right on the beach and head out for Snapper and Kingfish or you can snorkel, swim, or dive in the calm turquoise and azure blue waters. Then to top it all off, the views out to the myriad of small islands offshore is wonderful, but for a real treat, climb the nearly 200 steps at the far and of the beach to get a view beyond that is truly worth the climb.

Opito Bay is 9km from the nearest little township, over a steep road partly gravel only. No shops or services there but a little settlement of holiday cottages beside a gorgeous white sand beach which was quite deserted when we visited.
